Default Beretta 81 with New Grips

I was able to get a hold of one of those recently imported Beretta 81’s. Got a decent one but not the pick of the litter like my 92S.
Well today my new silver black grips for it finally showed up today, ordered from Altamont right when this virus business hit the fan.
Anyway I took this thing apart tonight and gave it a good cleaning, really wasn’t that bad but it didn’t meet my standards.
The new grips are on and it looks great, Altamont did a great job and they’re a perfect fit.

Those look sharp! The Beretta 81 is a very good defensive weapon. The .32 was considered adequate for many years for European police usage, and with proper shot placement, will end the threat.

I bought a very nice 84 that had been imported from Israel. I replaced the grips with a set of grips like yours except walnut. I really like the look and feel. I think I have 5 or 6 sets of Their grips for various handguns.

These weren’t the first grips I purchased from Altamont and I’ve been pleased with their work. I think they look way better then the originals.
As the 81 is concerned, Along with my Smiths I like Berettas and I just couldn’t pass on one of these, always liked the Cheetah line.
I don’t remember where all these were surpluses from, Prison, Police, Military.
This one was used but not very hard, not like my 92s which probably never left the armory?

Properly charged 7.65 FMJ ammo (not most US manufactured weak sauce) in a 4" tube will get it done with correct shot placement. I wouldn't waste my time with JHP.

Those grips look nice. How do they fit the hand compared to the originals? I carry my 81 quite a bit and found it very accurate at ten yards. The factory grips fit my hand really nice, but the Altamonts look great.

Those new grips really change the look of the 81 for the better. I like them. Picked up a 81 myself over the winter for a really good price - $180 out the door with a spare magazine, but only in probably "good" cosmetic condition. Looks carried a lot, but seldom shot. I was told most of these imports are Italian corrections guns. Great plinking / fun gun. If you don't mind me asking, what do they get for a set of grips like that? Might be interested.

The grips to me have somewhat of a little more thicker feel then the originals.
Grips cost were $45.00 which was not bad at all. Right now if you go to their website all they are offering for the 84 are the Siver Black grips.

That's not good. The high capacity Cheatahs are already too thick for my hands.

I briefly owned one of the 12-shot .380s. Sold it because of the fat grip. Later bought the single stack version. I like it much better. I resisted buying one of these hi-cap .32 pistols, even though I'm a fan of the caliber. Had they had a pile of the Model 82 pistols with the single stack mag, I would have been a buyer for sure.

I guess for me I’m use to the double stack because I do have and carry the Cougar 8040 which does have a set of their rosewood grips!

OP, those don't look like silver black grips, more like walnut, which I like better anyway. I ordered a set of grips for my Beretta 81, the walnut with the medallion, other choice is the silver black, others are presently out of stock. Now to find a pancake holster for my CZ83, without paying too much. I like Craft holsters, but they are out of the one I want.

It must be the lighting? They are suppose to be silver black. When I ordered them that was all they had? Too me here as I type this they look silver black?

Could be the lighting. My wife and the army say I'm color blind, so that could be it. They still look good. I got on the website earlier, and silver black and the brown ones with medallion was all they had and I ordered the medallion ones.

Finally got my grips today, almost a month, but considering the state of affairs right now, not bad. The box they came in was almost completely trashed, looked run over and been wet, but the grips were well padded and came out good. A bit thicker to the hand, but feel great. Got to shoot to try them out.
