Went to the gun shop to pick up a S&W M&P 45 Compact today that I ordered last week.

Saw they had a Sig P365 in the display case. Like a fool I asked to check it out. As soon as I held it, it felt like it was made for my hand. Took everything I had to walk out without it.

Came home and kept thinking about it while I was eating. Ended up calling the shop and told them to box it up, and I'd be there in a minute.

I found out mags aint cheap for these little 9mm's.

Best price I found was on ebay, bought 2 for $99 with shipping.

Hoping to put a few rounds thru them both Sunday.

I held one today with the funny sights, don't know the model suffix. I was impressed and didn't think I would be, beforehand. Easy to get a sight picture.

I'm a revolver guy down to the core. I can shoot 1911's almost as good as a revolver, but have never been able to shoot any of the compact 9's good enough to feel comfortable carrying one for SD until I picked up a P365. Bought one and how it is my carry piece. It just fits my hand perfect and I feel like I can really control what I do with it. I've put over 500 rounds through mine in the last month and not one hiccup.

If you get a chance, look at the XL version. Carries in the same holster.

BTW, a friend and former co-worker is on his fourth Sig P365. He typically carries them in Vedder IWB holsters. He also rides a motorcycle, claims the Vedder is very secure.

Like a lot of people, I sold my Shield to get the P365. I carry it when I can't carry the full-size gun.

It comes with two 10 round mags. I got a 15 round mag. I carry the gun in the pocket with the 10 in it, and the 15 in the other pocket for a reload.

Like others I really like mine, it's the 1st autoloader I trusted for EDC. Accurate, functions fine w/ a variety of ammo & when dirty. Even works perfectly held sideways or even upside down. Before anyone snivels gangsta silliness a defense gun needs to work if you're knocked down or wrestling multiple assailants.

If you aren’t familiar with semi auto compacts, make sure you get a mag loader.
I have a 365 XL and I can only get 5-6 rounds in the 12 round mag without one.
Think you are gonna love that 365. I opted for the slightly larger XL. Just found it more comfortable and easier for me to shoot.

I've held the 365 on numerous occasions most of the time thinking I should get one prior to walking into the LGS. Like the size and it does feel good in the hand. Call me a trigger snob, but just don't see what the appeal is. All the ones I've dry fired had a gritty feel, even the showcase ones that obviously been dry fired countless times.

Sure, the grittiness would most likely go away with a little well placed grease/lube and use, but the overall pull isn't as good as a M&P 2.0 or an Apexed 1.0. None of them broke crisp on the back end with noticeable creep and/or mushiness. The second stage broke too far forward in the trigger stroke for my taste, but to each their own.

In the end, the 365 stayed put at the LGS and just couldn't make the case for it replacing my Kimber Micro 9s for daily CCW. If something were to happen with my Micro 9s, my Sig 938 would take their place. Sure the extra rounds are nice, but if that's the case simply go to a bigger platform which tends to be more shooter friendly.

I have the P365 for pocket carry but also have a leather holster OWB on the way for when I'm working out side. Like mine so much I added the XL model for my night stand because I wanted to add a light. I have tried the Foxtrot365 and didn't care for it. Tried the Olight PL mini and returned it too. Really want an Inforce APLc but can no longer find one. I spoke with Inforce and they say they will be releasing a new model soon to replace the APLc. Both great shooters.

The P365 is an awesome firearm. Very accurate and goes bang every time. You will not regret. BTW I checked

Oops - BTW I checked one of my local LGS's which happens to be the biggest, most well supplied Sig store I have ever seen. Oddly enough they only have the 12 round mags listed in stock - Osage County Guns.

I really like mine. Pretty much my "everywhere" gun. It shots like a much bigger gun. Not much bigger than a j-frame, either.

If you post an add on your local forums, you might find the 10-rounders with the pinky rest for sale. I prefer either the flat base, or the 12s.

Also, the company Pearce Grip makes an "pinky extension" floor plate replacement for the P365. It makes it about the same configuration as the 12 round mag, but does not add any rounds to the mag.

I replaced the flat 10 round mag base with one and I like it.

Great gun, a home run for SD carry. Good trigger, accurate, reliable, easily concealed, relegated my former carries to either the safe or Armslist. Big fan of the Hogue Handall grip sleeve for it, perfect for the larger hand.
Until they come out with the Phaser, this is about as good as it gets.

I’m a revolver guy and have carried Airweight J frames for years. I got a P365 and really like it a lot. It’s my carry gun now. When the Hellcat came out, I kind of wished that I had waited but I’m happy with what I got.

When you're shooting to save your life, if you're familiar with your gun, fine discriminations in trigger feel won't matter.


I recently did a comparison between my Smith M&p 1.0 and the vaunted HK VP9. Take up on the M&P trigger felt about twice as long, but my HK buddy accommodated quickly. Both of us thought the Smith was in every way equal to the VP9 in actual rapid fire.

To each their own. My take is it will if your other firearms are significantly different. The firearms I chose to carry are essentially identical as far as function and feel. Not saying the 365 isn't a fine firearm and a few of my friends have them. It just wasn't for me.

"Shooting to save your life" has changed from what it used to be as well.

I'm going to get a P365, but since I carry with one in the pipe, and in a pocket holster, I'm getting one with a manual safety. My EDC now is P938.

Here is mine in the only IWB holster I’ll ever use with it. I’m spoiled by it, and won’t carry it IWB in any other holster.

I do carry it with a 12-rd magazine.

One interesting note on the 365 & the XL. If you have any doubts about how happy folks are with them, try and find a used one. Round here they are nonexistent and will probably remain so until the next wonder 9 comes out.

This is very timely. I spent hours today researching the P365 on the internet. Hickok45 has a few videos on them. I am planning on getting the thumb safety version for pocket carry, in an Alabama kydex pocket holster.

That is a minimalist job called the Hook Holster. Made by a one-man shop called Gunner’s Custom Holsters. I found him on a popular auction site (not a gun-based one) but he has a standalone site with lots of products on it. Site should be easy to find if you’d like to take a look.

He put a lot of thought into this design. It securely covers the trigger and muzzle. Lends itself well to AIWB or, if you plan right, pocket carry. You’ll note it positions the grip a bit higher above the beltline as opposed to other makers. Most bury the grip enough that you have to dig for it on drawstroke. Not so with this one.

I have the same 365, got an Alabama pocket holster. It hides the gun well, but it's really slow to draw from. I'm wearing jeans so a bigger pocket might work better.

What would you recommend?

I've got a Kydex IWB, works for me. If you've got big pockets, an Alabama holster may work just fine, though. Well-made holsters. In my jeans pocket, the grip shifts forward just enough to make drawing problematical. If you can, try before you buy. When you order a holster, whatever the brand, make sure it's for the safety model.

The Vedder Pocket Locker my fave for pocket carry of any handgun.
And when shopping for pants look for as vertical a pocket opening I can find, much easier to pull from.

It wasn't in low light, it was inside a gun store.... medium light. The green was brilliant. I'd like to try it in low light, though. I won't trade mine in for one but I'd like to try it out.

I can tell you that the SAS sight picture disappears in the dark.

Gentlemen, I don't want this to hijack the thread, but I have a question that would apply to the P365 in addition to the P320 Xcompact that I won and am waiting to pick up.

I there some form of positive striker safety on the P365/P320? I was weened on the safety laden 1911, and while I am not a Glock fanboy, I can see the merit behind the safe-action trigger with the positive striker safety.

Conceptually, I like the Sig P320 and P365, but I can visualize the striker slipping and fired without a positive striker safety.

I always cringe when I hear a gun being put into a plastic holster.

I like a good old leather OTW holster. Found one exactly like the one I carried my Glock 27 in for many years.

when carrying my 365 owb use that same De Santis holster, super comfortable, high and tight.
Currently on the waiting list for the 365XL frame w/safety cutout and mag release to return to stock.
Converting from summer carry to winter carry maybe a 5 min swap to switch frames and replace 12 round mag extensions with flat bases, and will pick up a couple of 15 round mags as well.
Consider the Sig modular fire control utility to be a signifcant advance in striker pistol design.

Short version, yes. I cannot think of a striker fired gun that does not have a striker safety. They operate similar to the firing pin safety on later 1911s.

Now that's a nice set up...... makes me rethink a 365 as a backup or can't carry anything else.

It’s been a game changer for me. I use it as primary with 12-rd magazine and the Sig V-crown hollowpoints they design for this length barrel. My pistol does not have the manual safety. I’m perfectly fine with that.

I’m not a Sig fanboy but it shoots like a full sized service pistol and carries small. Love it.

I put the XL Grip module on my P365. It's my P365X or P365 Commander! Fantastic little shooter.

I caved this week and bought the SAS version.My local guy had one in his case all alone. I got if for $575 OTD with tax. I really like the sights and the snag free profile. It fits perfectly in #3 Uncle Mikes Pocket holster.

This is the gun I wish they would make.

I have only had mine for a little over a week now. I should have been more patience in the purchase. Now that I have shot this an carried it as a backup a few times I am quite unsettled that there is no manual safety. I was looking for a Shield 45 2.0 and my 2 requirements was that it have a Manual safety and no Integrated CT laser. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this other than I love Sigs SAS models. I also love thwe bullseye sight. I have several Sigs that are all SAS that were produced in 2001 or later. But they are all D/SA pistols like S&W 3rd gens. I did get a great price on it so I am already thinking I will sell it and buy the manual safety version. That means going away from the SAS but I have to have the Manual safety.

I have the one with the manual safety. The safety is a bit stiff to activate at first but with a little break in it is fine. Feels like the thumb safety on a 1911.

By all accounts the P365 seems to be a good choice.

It's not on my radar because I have a preference for hammer-fired DA guns, but I wouldn't rule out getting one someday.

And this is why I've yet to handle the Kimber K6Ss I've seen at the LGS.

I’d like to get a 365. But I have a Shield and a Ruger LC9S, extra mags for each, and multiple holsters. There’s not much re-sale value on either and they’re not fun range guns, so what would I do with them? I’d lose too much selling them at such a loss.

If I didn’t have either I’d get a 365, but $50 mags are not something I want to deal with. And if I did get one, a manual safety would be mandatory.

Sell it, get what you really want, and never look back.
