Default Old school 22 rifle

I ran across an old Unertl 4X scope in my stuff and decided to put it on my 1948 vintage Winchester Model 75 Target. Talk about an easy setup and sight in. The gun already had the blocks on it. Got it set for 65 yards and then a sprinkle started. Hope you like it.

That's a keeper for sure. I love the vintage target rifles. Got several with the peep sight on rear and globe sight up front. It's amazing how accurate they are.

Classic look, and I'm sure it's a performer, too.

A very fine old Winchester! That rifle should easily outlive all of our grandchildren and still be a winner at the range.

I will admit to a bit of prejudice on my part; I love the older firearms, I love beautifully fitted actions, I love good walnut stocks. There is not much offered these days that can compare to the classic guns I grew up with. All the plastic and stainless and composite stuff just leaves me cold, no heart or soul to connect with if you follow my thinking. Kimber offers some very high end .22 rifles, Anschutz makes some real beauties, and some exceptionally nice products are coming from CZ now, but nothing that will take the place of the old Winchesters and classic Remingtons.

What a great outfit. I’m very envious. Congratulations!

A Unertl scope with its micrometer adjustments on a good 22 rifle can be remarkably entertaining. I mounted one on a Marlin 880 Sq and worked out the scope mount settings from 25 to 400 yards. That combo plus a range finder provided hours of long range plinking fun in the Oregon high desert.

Very Nice. I always loved Unertl scopes and wish I still had the ones I once owned.

I wish I had my first Mossberg Target .22 that my dad got me for my 10th Birthday when I was shooting at the IBM indoor range in Poughkeepsie, New York. I still have all those 50 Foot Rimfire Metals and didn't shoot any better when I moved up to a Model 52. Now a days I shoot a Cooper Benchrest .22 RF and a Gordon Eck Built one.

Nice gun-scope combo. Let us see some targets from the next range visit. Larry

That is a super nice looking model 75. My 75 is not as nice, but it has it's cool factors. It is a 1938 model with a serial number of 1005. I got it several years ago at an estate sale with the 8X scope, Redfield peeps and their boxes for $300.00.

I love Winchester .22s and have a bunch. I just got my last two single shots to complete my collection of one of every model of .22 single shots Winchester produced. They made so many models of .22s that it has been a life time job rounding up a lot of different models.

On you stock, Model 52's had "tuners" where the dark dots are, are yours filled in, or "fake" dots?

I love a target 22 with a long scope. I still have one Unertl (15x) and sold the rest (10x 3/4, & 10x 1 1/2") and all my Redfield 3200 (10, 16, & 20x).
Redfield blocks came in so many heights, you could get your zero at the bottom of your scope up close, I never had zeros beyond 300 for my 22's.

That's a great rifle and scope combination! Thanks for the photographs.

I love vintage Winchester (and Remington) .22 rifles.

Your Model 75's near kin lives here, a Winchester Model 69A with a Unertl Condor 6X scope mounted on it. Nice combination for a sporter .22 rifle.
