Default P220 w/peened "W"

Picked this up this morning at the gun library. Funny thing, I was at a pawn shop yesterday morning and passed on a pretty decent P220 marked W. Germany because they had "too much in the gun" so "couldn't" come down on the price. Just gun and one mag. Then saw this today, with original grey SIGARMS case and extra mag and manual for $50 less. I don't think the extra mag has been out of the wrapper, and the gun looks like it maybe had a mag or two put through it. Some handling marks on the slide but nary a mark on the frame or grips. Barely any wear on barrel or slide rails. Circa 1996 based on serial number and peened "W." All in all I'm satisfied.

p.s. Not having the German proof marks, I would imagine that this is a U.S. assembled gun from German parts. Still pretty neat.

Congratulations, it looks very good

Based on the spare magazine, we can presume it is chambered for 45 ACP

I have been a fan of the P220 since the 1970s.

I bought mine used and was told it was from the 1990s but have no verification of that.

Mine also says W. Germany on the right side of the slide and on the left is Sigarms, Inc. and Exeter, N.H.

You can't have too many mags for those ..... I find mine very fun to shoot and super reliable.

Congrats on finding it.

Very nice P220 Olivehead1. You can tell when they were made by the letter code on the bottom of the barrel hood. If it is not marked then it was a USA made gun. There is an

entire serial number range site and it explains the date code too. I have been a big fan since the 1970s as well. I am a collector of vintage P220s. I like the 1976-1980 guns as that is when I was stationed in W Germany.

My favorites are my Sig P220 in 9mm, 38 Super and 30 Luger.

Here is a pic I have handy of my P220
In 9mm from 1976. Date code GH
