Default Colt's .22

Not a "collector" of Colt's but when I saw this one, I thought I "needed" it......

Very Nice!
One just like it lives here even with the box and stuff, but not near the condition of what you found.

Thanks all! I think we know what the range report looks like: 6 shots, 5 squirrels......….that miss was on ME!

I took a flier on this one! I only have one other Colt's and that was a gift from my dad in the '80s; a Delta Elite. Having globs of Ruger Single-Sixes, this still called to me. Not sure it was $700 worth, but at the moment, I guess I didn't care much

$700 worth?? I actually have no idea, but something in the box, with the paperwork, from the early '70s, I figured it might be.

Nice score. I have a 4.4" and a 7.5' Peacemaker .22 and they are great shooters. You may find that with ammo that your Colt likes and that one of your Ruger Single Sixes likes that the Colt is more accurate. My theory is that Colt chambered the cylinders with proper throats while Ruger just bored each chamber straight through. The Colts were quite a bit more expensive at the time and didn't sell in the numbers that the Rugers did but Colt wanted to maintain the classic color case hardened frame and looks of a 7/8 scale Peacemaker SAA.

I had a mid to late 60's New Frontier Colt 22 with Mag cylinder. Mine was in the box with a cardboard insert that was cut out for the revolver and velvet bag with the cylinder (in a box) inside. Had all the papers and keychain screwdriver. A Christmas gift (1973) from my older brother. With permission I traded it off in the early 80's. He paid $40 or 50. I got $450 trade for it. I shot it only fair with 22LR and was miserable with 22 mags! (I always thought it was me, but Dad had a Diamondback 22, that wouldn't hit a barn standing inside!)

Well I suppose if you got $450 for it in the '80's, I did OK with giving $700 for it in the 2020's

Nice! I purchased a minty one about 2 years ago to replace the exact one I had received from my Dad like the one you have now...my new one is minty maybe not used but no box-it does have the box for the mag cyl like yours though. I learned to shoot handguns early and this was the 1st I had fired...my uncle had 2 boxed peacemaker buntline 22's with the 7-1/2" bbls and I always wanted one of those too...I found a n.o.s. Buntline bbl and may install it someday but I do like the 6" that is on it...I killed many Richardson ground squirells or what we call gophers in Montana with that peacemaker...cheers

Colt’d do well to bring out a modern single Colt’s in .22 rimfire.

I've got a matched set of Nickel .22LR SAA Colts and they are great guns!! I use to use them as sort of an understudy for my .45 Colt SAA's that I would compete with in SASS matches. Still shoot 'em too!

The following has been bugging me since yesterday, though I expect someone would have corrected me by now if I had it wrong, my question is: is it, "Colt" or "Colt's" or "Colts"??

Depending upon the context, I often use "Colt's" as in Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Co. which is rollmarked on many Colt firearms. Even today, their official name is Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC.
Colts would be plural of Colt.

Thanks Walter. Sounds like I may have gotten it correct. The paper work states it both ways; both "Colt" and, "Colt's"

This is the only Colt .22 that I own. I received it as a Christmas present from my Dad when I was 16 years old. I still have the box and documents, including the registration/warrant card that I never sent. There is not telling what the round count is but, it still shoots like a dream.

A Colt Huntsman.

Bought a 6" Peacemaker in 1979 in the box for $150 with the .22 mag cylinder, still in the safe and not going anywhere while I'm alive. Great and fun guns...
