There have been many posts about customer service. Dillon and RCBS are generally held in high regard, but I don't recall Savage being mentioned.

Yesterday, I called Savage to buy a cheekpiece for an F T/R rifle. I bought it used and the previous owner had lost the cheekpiece. The representative was pleasant and told me it comes in a kit of two different types along with a bipod adapter.
There will be no charge, he said, and asked for shipping info. It will go out the next business day.

The generosity was much appreciated. I had my credit card in-hand expecting to buy the part, but they didn't want my money. My first interaction with Savage left me with a very favorable impression.

Yeah good to hear. Don't expect to hear such favorable treatment from other goods these days. Experienced same great customer service from Ruger a while back. Thought the magazine was not feeding as smoothly in my Ruger American 22 magnum as it should. Sent me a new one for free!

Savage is a solid company that puts out great products. Their out-of-the-box accuracy is outstanding compared to other new rifles.

Some Might Say.

Several years ago, one of my buddies bought a first year model 12 Target rifle in 6BR with a 1:6 twist bull barrel (single shot, left port and right handed.) He worked up a target load of some Varget and Berger 106 grain VLD bullets. For several months he had 100 yard groups that started 0.0..." or 0.1..."! Then all of the sudden the gun was shooting in the 2" group range. He call Savage right away and they sent a UPS ticket to mail the gun to Savage. After about 3 weeks, Savage Custom Shop called and said his gun would be receiving a new barrel, Did he want the original configuration or the current slotted configuration. He chose the original, but they had to wait for a shipment of barrel blanks to make him one. So somewhere in the 6 month time frame the Vice-President in charge of the custom shop called to say that his rifle was finished and they had fired a 5 shot group with Factory Lapua 106's and the group was 0.247" and they would ship it out tomorrow. He got it 3 days later, checked where to seat his bullet and loaded 20 rounds from his notes with the same charge but new length and went to the range. He zeroed the scope and fired the first group, 0.056", second group, 0.067" and a third group, 0.027"! Signed and dated, he mailed his groups back to the Custom Shop VP. The guy called him late the next week and said they would like to put that target in their lobby, the response: Sure, I can make all those I want!

My only savage is a 25 classic in .204. It has a thin barrel but at 200 yards all five rounds touched. That's using an old Redfield 3X9. I've never had an rifle that was that easy to shoot, plus with a .204 you can see target hits easily

Years ago, I purchased a used Savage 112S which was their metallic silhouette rifle in 308 Winchester. First time I took it out, after mounting an old Redfield 3x9 scope on it, I place the first shot about 4o'clock in the eight ring at 100 yds. Proceeded to sent three more rounds downrange and thought that my scope had come loose because I could not see any of the rounds hit. Ended up walking down range only to find the smallest of cloverleaves where all 4 shots went in the same hole and could have been covered by a dime. Just recently pulled it back out of the safe to have another go at it. Just a wonderful rifle.
