Cross off another Grail Gun
I've wanted an original 1863 Sharps New Model carbine for a long time and have had several close calls, some heartache and could not find one in my price range. Lucked out on an auction with this one.
All original rifle with an excellent bore at a reasonable price. Trying to research it I think this one was made in 1864. All comments are welcome.
Since posting I have found out that it is a Confederate captured "clean, repair & reissue" that is the "Z" mark. DFC in banner for David F. Clark for the conversion in 1868-69.
This is a very pleasant surprise as any documented Confederate CW Firearm is a rare thing.
This makes up for one I bought a couple of weeks back that had some Italian Reproduction parts in it and had to fight to get my money back from the seller.

Here's the Confederate Z stamp that I was told about along with initials of
another stamp that is being researched and believed to be Confederate Inspection initials.

Very nice! Looks to be good condition. Range report would be very cool.
