Default H. Pauk and Sons Display Case

At the thrift shop I came across this and while I wasn't sure what exactly to do with it, I knew it had to come home with me.

I have no idea if any of you guys will care, or even find this interesting, but I thought on the off chance that some of you did care, or better yet be able to fill me in on H. Pauk and Sons a bit, I thought I would make a thread about it.

Here it is!

After some thought, and a little bit of work to set someone up to watch the baby, I realized this would be perfect for a gun show table.

I've been messing around with a potential setup for it, I feel like it works out pretty well:

Anyway, kind of a fun thing to play around with this morning.

I hope everyone is having a great father's day!

What a great display case. I couldn't tell the size until I saw the guns displayed. It's much bigger than I initially thought. I like it!

Happy Fathers Day to you!

Very, very cool find. Late 1800's to 1930s is my guess on age, most likely early 1900. General stores had them on the counter and they would have just about anything in them they didn't want to easily walk off.

They made different styles and one member here has a rounded display case with S&W logos on the sides that is remarkable.

A display case like yours in fun for collectors, who can display antiques or other items in a period setting.

You did a good job buying the display case although that young shooter behind on the right side of the picture thinks his toys should be in there!!

I think this is ultra cool and wish I had one except I don't really want any of my guns out in the open, on display!!

Well done!

Caleb,

That is soo fancy, you could charge admission to look at the contents.

Nice find. I would worry about damaging it carrying to and fro from the show. It is really a neat one.

Don't know who the original company was, but it is a nice quality retail display case. Your "utilization" is exactly what I would do with it. For Gun Shows or home display of nice guns, etc.

While in SoCal, I was friends with Tim Bovard, taxidermist at LA County Museum and one of the few remaining full-time staff taxidermists (Interestingly, I was reading a paper and saw the Bovard name in connection with the saber-toothed tiger==turns out his grandpappy was the first to describe it scientifically). Tim's work has been displayed in the Smithsonian and other museums besides LA County.

We (wife, me, and Tim) were all on the Quail Unlimited Board of Directors for LA County and, when we left for NorCal, he presented me with a BEAUTIFUL California Quail Mount, which is on a book case behind me as I type this. It is in a similar display case. One that size would be good for many bird species!

I'm looking for a display case to mount on the wall with adjustable shelves, or pegboard, to put my knives in. Presently they're all in a desk drawer down the cellar. There aren't any worth anything more than $50, but it would just be a place to keep them in. That's a nice case there, kinda classy-looking.

Looks great, however, you do realize that baby is about to hang themselves with that cord huh? Very dangerous.

Great display find! I, too, really misjudged the size. I thought it might hold 2 revolvers at most.

Yeah, she has a talent for immediately trying to harm herself with anything she can find.

That cord is only down because I closed the drapes to try to get a good picture of it. So, obviously, someone needed to immediately run over to the cord which is usually out of the way...

Regarding the size of the case: it's pretty cool but also makes it really kind of impossible to use in my house anywhere. It's just so huge that I don't really know where to put it.
