Default Got a few of my Randalls together for a family photo

Beating the heat tonight meant cleaning these up for a group photo. Left to right ....

Model 10-3”
Model 23-4 1/2” with stag finger grooves
Model 3-6” Hunter with Birdseye maple
Model 20-4 1/2” Ward Gay Special

I have a few more that I use on a regular basis - these will some day go to my kids. Got a few of my Randalls together for a family photo

Here are a few of mine...every one a user. I've passed a few on to my three sons, with the explicit instructions that the knives are to continue to be used. So far, they've complied.

A model 25-5 in stainless steel.

Another model 25-5, carbon steel, along with a Smith and Wesson model 10.

A model 5-6, carbon steel with my Smith and Wesson model 15-4.

A model 1 with a Smith and Wesson model 27-2.

Another model 5-6.

I like Randalls. As you can see, some of my blades are stained. That's okay with me. Bo Randall said his knives were made to be used and I try to follow his counsel.

I like the #23. Mine's down several elk, a few "mulies", and many wild pigs.

I have a Yukon Skinner with stag that I haven't used yet. Plus a few others.

I think my next will be a 25 mini and would definitely be a "user".

Default sorry no picture

Mule packer got me thinking.......years ago just after the feds bought the via caldera in New Mexico out of private hands where it had been for a long time (150 years or so)
It was home to some of the finest Elk ever.
Anyway it as part of the deal had to be self sufficient, so the few trophy tags were auctioned off, and the cow tags were put into the youth drawing ( I recall there was a $100 dollar fee or so to get into that drawing)
I put my youngest in and he drew, so a fantastic hunt was in order.
He put his cow down, we took pictures, then I opened my pack and pulled out a Randall 25-5, handed it to him, told him congratulations on your first elk, here is your award, now get to field dressing that big girl.
He sat there with tears running down his face turning that knife over in his hand.
He finally said "Dad, its to nice to use, let me have your knife so I can keep this one pristine ."
I told him nope, you will clean lots of game with that knife for your entire life, and every time you do you will remember this hunt and your old man.
That knife is on display on the wall in his living room, in a nice shadow box, but it is with him on every hunt and has seen service on countless animals over the years.
