Officer's ACP size frame, Commander size slide. .45 ACP. made in Canada in 2004. complete with box, docs and VHS tape. 3.5# double action pull. can't wait to shoot it. lee

It's a shame that these are no longer in production as they seem to be the absolute best Double Action 1911s ever commercially produced.

I bought a full sized double stack 45 from them when Slick Willie was touting his "gun ban". It was a P-14 Lightweight, and it actually held 15 + 1 after the first year or so. I don't recall that gun ever having a hiccup or stoppage. And it was a very comfortable pistol to shoot.

I went a long time without shooting it when I started on a 3rd gen kick, and ended up swapping it for something or other. And wouldn't ya know it, suddenly I was missing it! "Why did I just get rid of my only high capacity 45?" The Canadian built Para's are reportedly the better built guns, but having only owned that one, I cannot confirm or deny.

I eventually latched onto another 14 round 45 (Sarsilmaz K2), and I'm hanging onto this one. It's a good bit heavier, but has a rotating barrel that really tames the recoil. 45's have never been painful to shoot anyway, but this one is a *****cat.

Congratulations on the Canadian Para! Bet you're going to love it.

Para made nice stuff back then. I used to live about a 1/2 mile from the factory in Toronto when it was up here.

Nice! I like CCO-size guns. I think it's a good size for carry. If I were going to carry a 1911, it'd probably be a CCO.

I always wanted to try the LDA guns. I like 1911s, but prefer a DA trigger for carry/self defense. 3.5lb trigger seems awfully light to me, but never having handled a LDA I could be wrong.

FWIW, back in the 90s I took a training course and one of the instructors was using a double-stack Para frame 1911. This was when they had just started making their frame kits and before they started making complete guns. He was a fan. While he didn't shoot it much during the course, I don't recall it having any function or reliability issues.

Only shot an LDA once. It shot really well, but the "double action" is essentially just faked so it doesn't look like it has a scary cocked hammer, even though it totally still does. Couldn't get behind a 1911 with proprietary parts, that doesn't actually do anything different or better.

I had a P-14 frame built into a Comp Gun for IPSC shooting in the late 1980's by Mac's .45 Shop in Seal Beach, Ca. when I was stationed there. Shot it quite a bit and then changed the upper back to a standard slide. A friend that was a Marine Officer wanted it and bugged me for it for quite a while. I finally sold it to him and have regretted it ever since.

I have a P-12 LDA and it has been perfect. I do not like safeties since I grew up firing S&W's DA, which made transition to "polymer wonders" simple. The P-12 feels very solid,it is very accurate, and has been problem free. Enjoy the Para, great gun. Be Safe,

The Para 6.45 is my preferred carry when the Colt gets too big for it's britches..or my britches.. you know what I mean.

fortunately, i have a few commander size holsters to choose from and if i tighten up my belt enough, i can probably carry it a while. LOL. lee

I have a Stainless framed 3.25" 6 shot and a 4.25" alloy framed 12 shot. These guns are so accurate it is hard to believe.

First time I took the 3.25 out to CCW, we ended up with an impromptu shooting session. I fires 17 shots, at 20 ounce Coke bottles (plastic) and nailed them....at 45 yards! Ammo was my standard 45, 230 grain Federal Hydra-shok . Lots of people like the HS2 (FBI penetration) but I prefer the old stand-by!

Have a TAC FIVE P18 LDA. Used it in competition until it became "unfair". Great fun, perfect record of reliability.
Very accurate.

I had downgraded the value of my personal safety back to a J-frame by the time Para-Ordnance came out with the LDA versions.

But for several years before I carried a P-12 in standard 1911 configuration as my primary CCW gun and found it reliable and accurate. And it gave me 12 rounds of .45 hydra-shoks in a gun much more comfortable to carry and easier to conceal than a K-frame snubbie.

If I had stuck with a semi-auto, I’m fairly certain I’d have migrated to the LDA version.

Just did my yearly retired carry qualification today. I ccw a para C7.45 & have done so for the last 6 or 7 years. Never have failed to qualify with it & shoot in the high 80's or a 90 a couple of times. The 25 yard line gets me every time, ace the course from 15 yards in.

Congrats on finding that mint Para. One showed up at a local pawn shop several years ago and I tried it out. After feeling the trigger I knew it was coming home with me.

I have two LDAs. Tac 4 and the Companion C7-45. Great guns but the amazing thing for me was I shoot the 3.5" barrel Companion better than my accurized Colt Gold Cup 5". Surprised the snot out of me.

shot it this morning. very accurate: more so than me with my shaky old hands and easy to get used to. spinning 4" spinners at 7 ft, i mean 7 yds and 10 yds. that's good for me. never saw a two piece extractor but then i don't get out much. these pics were taken prior to cleaning. lee

The old Para guns before their move to US were reportedly very good guns. Only issue with the LDA guns that I remember when they started getting some use, some reportedly had problems with the trigger bar breaking.

mckenney, i can see that with a lot of use. when i stripped it down for cleaning, i saw that the trigger bar is not very thick or wide. i think it is tempered. lee
