Default Goncalo Alves 1911 panels

I like the color of Goncalo Alves. I’ve always liked the stripes in the figure.

I purchased a set of Hogue wood panels for my blued Colt series 80 Government model.

Like the Cocobolo hogues, I’m a little disappointed in the coloring. Seems awfully dark for Goncalo, though they are an improvement over the super dark rosewoods that came with the gun.

I think I’m done buying Hogue wood grips for good. I’ll keep these on the pistol for now, but eventually I’ll replace them with a set from a more custom maker.

Any other fans of Goncalo? How do you like your Goncalo Alves to look?

The grain and colors would show up better if they were smooth with no checkering. Still look nice.

Seems to me like you may need to get more 1911s for all your grips.

I bought 1911s for lot lesser reasons than having too many grips laying around...

I don't have any 1911 GAs but I do have some that I like...a lot.
