CCI ruined my range trip
Took my new SBR 10/22 to the indoor range to sight in my new scope, and see if the machinist put a good crown on my 7" barrel.
Took a box of CCI subs and loaded 4 ten round mags, and 2 Ruger 25 round mags.
I have an all aluminum 25 round mag I bought years ago made by Tactical Inc. Bought this years before Ruger came out with the BX 25. I topped it off with the remanding 10 rounds form the box of CCI's.
The rifle wouldn't kick a shell out to save itself. It was like shooting a single shot. I did get 10 good shots thru the Tactical Inc mag after getting rid of the 10 rounds I topped it with.
I've got great multitudes of CCI sub and SV. This is the second 100 round box, I've ran into that just won't work.
Next time I'll take a few spare boxes with me.

Something is NOT right here....a 10-22 of just about any type should run flawlessly with CCI ammo.
Could be you rifle favors a higher velocity than Standard Velocity.......

Short barrel plus subsonic ammo might not have enough umph to cycle the action....

See if it works with MiniMags or another high velocity brand. I have a Sig P220 in .22 LR, put anything other than high velocity and it is a jam-o-matic. I run Remington Yellow Jackets through it and it runs like a sewing machine. i mainly use standard velocity in bolt guns and revolvers.

Which CCI ammo?
CCI 'Quiet 22' won't run any of my semi-auto guns, including my 10/22.
I've found that plain ol' CCI 'Standard Velocity' works great in all my guns, and is just as quiet suppressed as any of the fancy 'subsonic' or 'suppressor' ammo I've tried.

Been using CCI sub sonic in it for many years, and it's never missed a beat.
My AR with a CMMG 22 upper has also never failed me using CCI subs.
Just got another bad box out of a 5,000 round purchase that I bought about 8 or 9 years ago.
When I got home I loaded up 10 rounds form another box, and might have shot all ten out my side garage door without a fail.

I have 4,000 rounds of CCI SV, but never tried it yet. If the subs work I know the SV will.
I usually shoot 22's suppressed.

It can vary from gun to gun. For our weekly .22 match I use a S&W Model 41 for my primary gun and an old High Standard military style as the backup. The High Standard eats everything at standard velocity. The S&W will shoot CCI and Remington standard velocity shells but won't eject Federal target loads.

At our range I have seen su\b CCI and CCI quiet both fail to function in Semi auto pistols.
You might look into recoil spring options. Kidd offers a variety.

If the rifle is suppressor ready, I'd attach a can and see how it functions.

A lot of the times when I see folks at the range having trouble with their .22 semiautorifles or semiautopistols it is due to one thing. That can be spelled with three letters O-I-L, no or not enough lubrication causes may a problem.

Well I found out what the cause of my problem was.
I'd grabbed a box of CCI Quiet ammo. I forgot about buying 7 boxes of it when I first saw it on the shelf at Walmart years ago.
The boxes I have are listed at 710 FPS. Not near enough to cycle my 10/22.

I own three Ruger .22 pistols ( MKII, MKII Target, MKIII). They are garbage eaters and completely reliable. And have many thousands of rounds. But not one of them will function reliably with any type of low velocity, "quiet", or sub-sonic stuff.

You didn't grab anything, the ammo was swapped by the Evil Gunsafe Fairy. The EGF is that entity that takes the magazines for your gun out of your range bag just before you leave the house and is able to swap rifles in Gunsocks without disturbing the tie piece at the top. You may guess how I know.

Both my 10/22's, the MK III I had and the MK IV I now have, plus a CMMG 22 AR upper will shot any CCI sub or standard velocity, but non will cycle the CCI 710 FPS Quiet ammo. I've honestly never had a single problem I can think of.
It works great in my 39A and Savage bolt rifle thou.
