Default New factory Glock barrel mystery

Hey Guys, just picked up a brand new Glock 19 gen 5 from my FFL today. It has the funkiest looking factory barrel I've ever seen in an unused barrel. Every Glock I have ever owned had barrels like mirrors. This one has a milky grey film running from chamber to crown. I have tried cleaning it up with every cleaning agent know to man, but it wont budge. Any ideas what it could be. Hopefully I can download a few pics.New factory Glock barrel mystery-img_3383-jpg

You might move your question to the Glock forum... Looks like it had an acid bath.

I'd contact Glock directly. That doesn't look right. I've never seen one look like that and I've probably disassembled and looked down the barrel of 300+ GEN5 pistols.

Something very funky with that barrel. Looks like a milsurp that's seen corrosive ammo and become "frosted".

Drifting a bit, am I the only one who thinks the return to conventional rifling is a mistake?

Yep contact Glock if you can. Iíve never had much luck with them wanting to talk to me about anything if I had a problem.

IIRC, that was a mandate of the FBI contract, not Glock's idea, and not open to discussion.

Hmm, I wonder what their objection to the superior (IMHO) polygonal rifling might have been. Bullet forensics, perhaps?

That's my recollection. That memory and about $3 + tax would get you a cup of black coffee at your favorite commercial dispensary.

I believe that was actually the case. Their necessity for being able to determine which projectiles came from which agent's gun/s.
