Default new 32 Mag DA

I just bought a 7 shot Charter Arms 32 Magnum "professional". I don't know about which profession chose it but it is a decent trail gun. 3" bbl, 7 shot almost D frame cylinder. I didn't care for the green tube sight, the hump in the grip for my right thumb worked much better than it looked. It fit my hand fine and I wear a size XL glove that is too long in the fingers. Price out the door was $398.99.
DA pull is no K frame but acceptable. I did have to adjust to technique with it. I shot 90 gr swc, 95 gr wc, 98 and 118 gr swc's through it yesterday. With putting a target just atop the front sight I was 5 inches low at 10 yards. Finding an aiming point that worked I had my rear sight even with the bottom of the 1" target dot and the green dot covering it at 15 yards to be hitting the dot.
Best groups were with 118 gr bullets.. Cylinder throats were .314" on the pin gauges for all 7, all my bullets were sized .313 so I hope to see improvement with a new size die.
I copied this from "would you get a 6 shot 357 J frame " in Revolvers 1980 to present.

Thanks for the review. Where did you purchase it? I haven't seen one in person.

And not one single pic of the revolver or the range test targets?

And I thought we had rules.

Here's a decent article about an example similar to yours:

Charter Arms – Revolvers | Professional Model .32 H&R Magnum at K-Var

It seems the author also had similar low impacting groups during testing with more traditional loads but had better luck with POA/POI groups out to 15yds with the more powerful loads.

I was quite surprised at the heavier bullet/higher power offerings in this caliber tested in the link, as they look impressive numbers wise but come at a price of higher felt recoil and accelerated wear on the revolver...….but they are available for self defense use if wanted.

There is definitely versatility with proper ammo selection. And what's not to like about having 7 in the cylinder versus 5 or 6?

Dale

Being a stone cold hotrod 32 fanatic I have looked into and held one.
I liked the gun as a basic walk-about gun but for the life of me do not understand the lack of adj. sights. With the range of bullet weights and variable velocities they should be a given for this gun.
I'm sure with reload experimentation a meeting of POI and POI can be found ,,,,,, but then you are stuck with one load.
Put adj. sights on it and I'll buy one.

As you guys demand pictures this is a smaller , older , 5 shot 32 mag Undercoverette. It does a decent job as a pocket pistol.
Also fixed sight (soon to be a dovetailed front sight) but its a belly gun.

My wife’s CA Undercoverette is only a five shot. I believe the one in this photo is as well....

Ahhhhh, correct you are. I think you caught me amidst some brain flatulence.
I was writing about my Charter Arms but thinking about my SP-101.

Got it fixed up now .
