Cocobolo done right
I can whole heartedly recommend Wood Caliber grips (I am not affiliated, just a review of their product).
I ordered a set of Cocobolo panels for my Colt Gold Cup. They came today, and they are perfect.
Checkering is tactile and excellent. The finish is immaculate. And the color and wood grain is perfect. I like the cocobolo variant that is orange.
This makes for a rather handsome Gold Cup.

Are they in fact real, genuine Cocobolo? I'm sorry to ask this, but unfortunately these days there are a lot of grips which claim to be of a certain wood, but then if you read the fine print they're just dyed/stained birchwood. Also, I'm used to Cocobolo being redder than the grips you have pictured.

I've looked over their webpage for WoodCaliber, and I have every reason to believe the wood species advertised there are genuine.
each set of grips are purchased as a set.
But I guess, who knows? anything is possible.

Those look great, love the dark creamy lines running thru, beautiful!
I just got a couple pieces of really nice black and white ebony I’m excited about, don’t know what I’m making yet tho.

Wood Caliber is Top Shelf. I have 2 sets, one a dark red cocobolo with zebra wood inlays. The other is set is cherry wood with blood wood and gaboon ebony inlays.

Red Cocobolo come from Mexico.The brown orange is South America

I've been impressed with WoodCaliber fit, finish, and quality. I bought two sets in cocobolo and walnut. I put the walnut ones on this Combat Commander to replace the heavy, ugly, G10 ones that came with the gun:
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the cocobolo ones, I had planned to use them on a 1911 from another manufacturer, but it came with nice grips.

The ones I ordered were in stock and they shipped immediately. I received the grips in 5 days (weekend slowed things down).
When you shop on their site, each set of grips are made as a set, and you get to see which exact pair are in stock.

Here is a set of smooth Cocobolo very orange .I have seen little red in cocobolo

If you want the grips to be darker, set the grips on a south facing window sill for several months,,
If the wood is from South America,, it will darken,,
We have over 1,500 square feet of the stuff in our house,, installed about 15 years ago,,
The wait for it to darken almost killed my wife,, LOL!! 
We now have a floor that looks like S&W's finest grips,,

I just ordered a custom set of WoodCaliber grips for my Ed Brown Kobra Karry. The folks there are very accomodating: After discussing what I wanted, they sent me a photo of the cocobolo blanks they'll use for my approval. I'll post photos here when the grips arrive...

I learned of WoodCaliber on one of the 1911 forums.
This set was Cocobolo and I picked out the wood from their website and they made them to order. It took a little over 2 weeks from order to delivery.
This set was for sale on their website, Macassar Ebony.
Great quality and fast shippers. I’ve ordered several sets from them.

I received my made-to-order cocobolo Woodcaliber grips recently. Their website is easy to navigate, and after I emailed them to describe what I was looking for in color, grain, etc., they sent me a photos of the blanks for my approval.
The quality of these grips is hard to describe...fit, finish, checkering, all perfect in every way. And Woodcaliber was great to work with as well...I can recommend them without hesitation.
