Spinning a Colt Single Action .45
The gun is an engraved 1957 4 3/4” .45, checked then rechecked that it’s unloaded first. Guess I’ve watched too many westerns.

At least you were smart enough to do it over the bed.
Sammy Davis Jr. was considered one of the fastest draws in Hollywood (seriously) and shot himself in the leg with a wax bullet in a hotel in Vegas.

Impressive, but not something I would do. There's a nickel 4.75" mint SAA for $2500 on consignment at my range/LGS. My New Frontier SAA 'only' cost $1000 several years ago. Both too expensive to use for such practice...

This is the best I’ve ever seen in TV or movies. James Garner does some very complicated moves here while doing his dialogue at the same time. He was this good yet I never seen him do it again on film. Except an old film on You Tube where he’s in street clothes in a parking lot by his Corvette and I think Joe Bowman is coaching him for the scene here.

Pretty impressive! I've done it with replicas but never had the guts to do it with real Colts. I am nowhere's near as good as you! I'd still do it over the bed until you are flawless and have a good track recored of not dropping.

The 5" and 7" Colt SAA are considered the greatest balanced revolvers ever made. It depends on the type "spinning" you'll be doing on which is better. I have had discussions about it with a 3 time national champ. If you plan on throwing it in the air shorter is better.

This is my all time favorite Rifleman because of this scene right there. It was a factor for me choosing a lefty Ojala rig in 1985 just like SDjr. Wears in it. I barely fit it now so made this new belt. I have been thinking of putting 12 bullet loops like SDjr's rig has. Mine still has the strap on the holster, though. I do spin out of this rig, too but it's harder, of course. I was always impressed by his use of longer barreled guns most of the time.

WyattBurp, very wise unloading the gun, and nice job. That's tougher than people think. Just watching that you don't know how many scenerios went through my head of some guy at the family barbeque and saying "Hold my beer..."!

Yes, an 1860 is a real good spinning gun. It feels light, and that 8” barrel has great spinning balance when it seems like it wouldn’t. I have a blued Uberti and a tight as a vault unfired “in the white” one that looks nickel it’s polished so well. that one looks flashy spinning around.
