Default Cheap Watch, Part 2

Picked up my Savage Axis 30/06 today. Rang it up & was told $187.25. What Tha? Looked at the receipt & showed the price of the gun was now $175, down from $198. Great. Out to the parking lot & into my truck. Hhmmm, wonder if there are any other deals like that? Went to another Walmart a few miles away. Nope, nothing there. Weellll I've only got one 270 & everyone needs at least two, right...Right. Back to the other store. Isn't it great how all you got to do is show a little piece of plastic & they'll let you take things out of their store. Not sure what I would have done if they had any more. Now the only question is do I keep both of them or keep one & use the other to trade for something else I want (not need).

Don't want your thread to go unanswered. Let me repeat (3d time) the 4 reasons for retail purchases, these from a sporting goods retail sales magazine:

1. Acquisition 2. Pride of Ownership 3. Dreams and Imagination 4. Need...

The message to retailers was: if you only cater to "Need", you won't stay in business very long. I guess your .270 purchase falls under the category of "Acquisition." So do virtually all of my purchases...

I take it that your second purchase was a Savage .270. If you have room for it, why not? You can always sell it or trade it off and not lose much if anything. I have three .270s (a pre-WWII M70, a 1966 M70, and a Remington 7400) and haven't fired any of them for years. But I can't bring myself to part with any of them. To me, there is no better all around caliber than the .270, and never will be.

Yep, I was attempting that at an online auction just today, but somebody's "need" was greater than mine.

I'm a sucker for cheap guns and a friend who owns a gun store in a small town told me if someone doesn't want to spend much money he recommends a Savage Axis. He said he has sold over 50 of them and never heard a complaint.
