Heres a few more from my collection. Both were designed by my friend and master knife maker Mike Vellekamp.

For awhile he owned Fox Knives U.S.A. until corporate decided they wanted to move states. He designed several knives for them while he owned the shop. The first is the Olympus.

He now owns Vknives, his own company.

Second knife from my collection was also designed by my friend and master blade maker Mike Vellekamp. This design was from when he worked for Bladetech.

This is the I4NI (eye for an eye). He still gets royalties from this popular knife. Flipper design. I remember I helped him laser etch hundreds for an order for the Federal Officers banquet. This one is personally autographed for me.

I have a Gen 1 Delica I had done very similar for carry in really restrictive areas like Chicago.

I also have a couple of Kabar TDI’s which might be considered unusual. It took me awhile to warm up to them, but I’ve become a huge fan.

That was the main reason I had that work done on my Delica, but I ended up really liking the profile that resulted.

I keep wanting to try the TDI. I never seem to get around to it, though. Any thoughts on which blade length/shape/style?

I prefer the original model. It’s got a sub-2.5” blade and full grip. My reasoning is that I wanted something extremely quick to access, offered a solid grip and good retention and was difficult to foul the draw in a reactive close-quarter scenario and I think the TDI gives me that. I guess a bit similar to the concept of a snub revolver with full grips, which I also have an affinity for. They also just came out with an “investigator” model, which is smaller and lighter overall, but the grip is shorter and the blade is longer which going the wrong way for my use.

I should clarify that the Kabar TDI is still relatively very new to me. I was recently working with an old friend and DT instructor with more blade experience than I who convinced me of their usefulness. They do what they do pretty well, but could be considered a much more specialized and less versatile design comparatively. You have to consider why you’re carrying it and likely needs. I’m still playing around with it and analyzing potential scenarios to be sure it’s the right choice. I very well could determine that I’m better served by something else or former choices, so I just thought I’d add that perspective. New knives are always fun though.

FWIW, I don't carry a knife for self defense, but I do like the original purpose of the TDI, which was as a weapon retention tool in the event of a disarm attempt, and that would be my primary reason for getting one.

There’s many ways to look at it. Trying not to open too big of a can of worms or completely derail the thread, but this perspective is worth considering in regard to civilian CC vs LEO’s.
