Default Snagged another grail gun. Arsenal Strike One

Got one of these recently, new, old stock. Not everyday you find a pistol that is:

1) A copy of a Russian gun, the Strizh, license built in Italy.

2) A pistol that uses the Bergmann locking system.

3) A pistol with a sideways rotating sear.

Couple of general pictures.

The Bergmann locking piece that locks the barrel and slide together.

The slide recesses and barrel flanges that engage the Bergmann link.

The sideways pivoting sear.

Some more pictures. There is a large metal chassis piece the same length as all those slide rails. Makes the pistol feel quite beefy for a polymer framed piece. The breech slides where the frame rails flare out. The barrel does not tilt. The rounded ledge just beyond the captive assembly pin is engaged by the barrel during recoil.

The slide machining probably gave the folks at Tanfoglio fits. All that machining explains why these were never cheap.

The breech and the rest of the barrel are very beefy. I suspect the design can take that crazy Russian 9mm ammo running 41,000 psi.

Now, that is interesting!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy gaining new "gun knowledge" in preparation for my next pawn shop outing... 'cause, you just never know what you might find.

P.S. I bet it shoots like a dream, based on its low bore axis/high grip and the caliber!

That's what I'm hoping for, but between the heat (111°F yesterday) and COVID-19 it may be some time before I find out.

Very nice looking machining - milling AND grinding. That thing is not much to look at outside but you can see what looks like some pretty precise manufacturing. Interesting handgun. Thanks for showing us that one.

Very nice

I had a base model, but sold it when I got the Salient Tier 1 version.
