I got one from a neighbor a few years back. It was his dads and the first rifle he ever shot. But he isn't a gun guy and didn't want it. However I was glad to have it!

Second from the top, it dates to 1934..and shoots great!

Great rifles indeed. I've had a 12A for 50 years and it still shoots accurate. I refinished the stock many years ago and the bluing is gone, but it's still mine.

The only one I have is parts gun. It will function but action halves are so loose you can lead targets 5% either way by hand pressure on forend. I will run across a beater to get a reciever and transfer my running gears and wood to it. Mine is a octagon barrel model. Last nice one I had was in 22WRF.

I'm not familiar with that model - but looks to be in excellent condition for its age. Let us know how it shoots!

I have a Model 12 somewhere, haven't seen it for years. I will pass on a warning that I have seen, namely that you should not use HV .22 LR in a Model 12. Apparently there is some pin in the mechanism which can fail. True or not, I can't say, but I have always used only .22 Shorts and .22 LR SV ammo in mine just out of an abundance of caution.

Its actually the bolt that can crack with continued use of hi velocity 22's. The model 12 (A,B,C etc) were upgrade with a stronger bolt and introduced as the 121. The 121 can use Hi speed 22's, the model 12's std velocity. There is a R12 tang peep sight made for the model 12 and 121 which are really neat, but pricey. Like $250 -$300. My model C octagon bbl.

Those are neat old rifles. I have a vintage ad for one hanging in my den...

Pretty much off-topic, but my Dad (b. 1910) kept an old Davenport 12-GA in the barn, with a few shells. He actually pulled it out & loaded it while we were milking cows one evening. Strange car had drove in and circled the house a coupla times, then left. Back kinda on-topic, in those times (60’s) you didn’t have to keep a Springer AR pistol beside the nightstand - a shotgun in the barn was good enough.

my late father had a 12A given to him when he spent a summer working on a ranch in Colorado as a child... with a scrape behind the front site from when he was trying to get the badger he shot out of the hole... it wasn't dead when he stuck the barrel in the open mouth and tried to hook the thing with the front site... quickly pulled the trigger again... and walked away... big brother has that one now...

My first rifle was a 121 given to me when I was 11 years old by a friend of my father. I still have it and it remains an accurate rifle.
