Default Laughed out of LGS

This morning I walked into my local gun shop and inquired about the availability of a Sig P365. Hilarity ensued.

Once he caught his breath, the store owner said he has 12 on backorder and asked if i would like to be number 13. Also said the Sig rep told him it could be up to a year before he sees one. Looks like the ol 642 rides on for awhile.

I see GB has a few, but you gotta want one real bad.

I've got a G48 but truthfully no semi auto has been as comfortable to carry as my S&W 649.

How does the 365 compare to the S&W CS-9 series in professional views here? Offer a lot over the CS series or not?

Not a professional, but in my opinion, it's pretty much personal preference. Biggest differences? 365 is still in production, a few ounces lighter, a little shorter, holds a few more rounds, and is a striker-fired gun vs the CS9's DA/SA trigger with a slide-mounted safety/decocker.

If I had to choose between them, I'd probably go with the 365, even though I prefer hammer-fired DA guns. Biggest reason for me is that I generally don't care for S&Ws 3rd Gen (and equivalent) semi-autos because I've yet to find one that feels good in the hand. Also not a fan of the way their safety/decockers work. Being discontinued is a factor for me. But like I said, it's all personal preference. Nothing's wrong with either gun. Someone who is an avid fan and user of the 3rd Gen S&W semi-autos (*cough*18DAI*cough*) might gravitate toward the CS9 because they're familiar with that style of pistol and can appreciate their positive attributes.

Just my opinion.

At least you didn't ask for a Glock 7. You know, the gun made from porcelain...

Sooo...... what’s wrong with a shield. Just 3 less rounds. If you need more get an M&p 2.0 or a Glock 19.

Then there’s always the SAW 249 if things get nasty

It’s a great gun. All the pandemic, riot mania aside it remains a great gun.
If you have a 642/442? Wait it out till the price comes back down.
I can’t carry that 365 in my pocket like I can the 442/642 in a Mika or equivalent holster.
It’s a great IWB with a lot of capacity and reliability but I feel good with my jframe too.
I actually like to carry both

Meh, there are plenty of other small 9mm pistols with just a little less magazine capacity which are available for less money.

Personally, my choice for a small semiautomatic pistol is the Ruger LCP. It's smaller, lighter, thinner, cheaper, and can be concealed in just about any attire. Yeah, it's only 6 rounds of .380 ACP vs 12 rounds of 9mm Luger, but I honestly feel that the 5 positives outweigh the 2 negatives.

My buddy and I rented a P365 some months ago and each put a couple boxes of shells through it. He bought one two weeks ago at a farm supply store for $499. I put 50 rounds through it last week at the range. I continue to be impressed by it, but continue to stick with my 642 and BG380.

I had wondered what the hype about the SIG Sauer P365 was, when the pistol gained sudden popularity, despite the firing pin dragging problem. I felt comfortable with a Glock 19 that I carried for well over 20 years and a S&W M38 for pocket carry when the Glock was too large.
Eventually I rented the P365 at my gun range and suddenly understood the "hype", the gun is easy to shoot accurately and follow-up shots are also easily controllable with times and scores slightly better than the G26 - and the timer does not lie. The grip with the 12 rd mags is just large enough to let me positively grab the gun and draw from concealment. So I bought one, got a holster, some 12 and 15 round mags and do not regret it.

It just conceals comfortably with the 12 rounds mags on a hot Texas summer day without compromising the ability to draw and shoot it well.

Glock and P365 holsters are from

Gunner's Custom Holsters

Must be a locality thing. I saw three new ones last week at my LGS. I’ve never handled one, but they do look small.

Twelve rounds in the size of a J frame, sold. Almost three years and 3,000+ rds later, very happy.
Size, weight, capacity, reliability, accuracy, got it all.

I don’t waste money on cigs or booze, so price is inconsequential.

I see them in my local gun shops on a fairly regular basis at not bad prices, but we do have a few folks trying to scalp them. One popped up locally in a private sell, supposedly new in box, for $400.00. It was snatched up that day by a car salesman who hocks gun on the side. It's now available for $500.

I waited 4 years for a Randall Made Knife ...they at first said 5 year wait but as it turned out , it was only 4 years ...so maybe the SIG will come in early !

Good things come to those who wait... at least that's what my Mom used to tell me !

I'm a bit surprised by posts like this. No disrespect to the OP, but the guns & ammo shortage has been going on since the lock down began, then the civil unrest that's been a daily fact of life, (sadly), since last spring. For example, I was at the local Cabela's yesterday. As has been the recent case, the handgun ammo shelf was empty, save for a few boxes of 32acp, 41 & 44mag. A guy asks one of the help, "Don't you have any 9mm or 45?" It's been long gone all spring & summer and this poor guy's just finding out?

Still carrying my Kahr CW40. weighs 18.3 oz. with the magazine in but only holds 7. That's what they make magazines for, to put in your pocket. Shoots a better round too.

I put that last sentence in their so the 9mm. fanboys can light me up.

I actually used to carry a Walther PPK/S with wood grips which weighed 25oz loaded, but I replaced it with the LCP because I loved it too much to risk losing it and admittedly it was tricky trying to pocket carry it during Summer in a pair of drawstring shorts.

Now I use the LCP mostly as a BUG to my SW40VE, a Glock 23 clone which weighs about 24oz unloaded and over 30oz loaded with a full 14 rounds of 180gr .40 S&W. It's heavy, but with cargo shorts and a proper carry belt it's effortless.

I won't say what I have, but I make sure to buy in case lots on a semi-regular basis. I had more 5.56X45 than I recalled, and a few cases of 9mm (duty and ball). One has to get their priorities in line.

As for pistol: Although it is not a pocket gun, I have been favorably impressed by the Shield 2.0 PC 4" w/RDS. Mine is a champ.

My EDC is P365 with TLR-6 flashlight/laser. I pocket carry with a 12 rd magazine, loaded chamber, manual safety invoked, and in a lined leather holster I made. It is very fine for EDC. I paid $499 + tax for pistol at Academy Sports in March. The TLR-6 was $130 + tax from Amazon.

Grabagun gots one with tridium night sights for $609. I don’t worship at the Sig altar so don’t know if that’s crazy money or not.

If you haven't ever waited months for a gun, you haven't been buying guns that long.

If you have other CCW options and simply want the P365 as an upgrade, I would wait to buy. One of two things (or both) will happen: the price and availibility will normalize, or an even better design will hit the market and both create another option for you and provide some gently used P365s from those guys that just have to have the latest and greatest.

I'm still carrying either a 442PC or Glock 26. Sure, both the Hellcat and P365 are smaller than the 26, but neither is a big upgrade and I can keep a 19rnd extended G17 mag as a backup. Anyone making reliable 20rnd P365 or Hellcat mags yet?

Not sure how reliable they are, but...

Sig Sauer(R) P365 9mm (50) Rd - Black Polymer Drum - ProMag Industries

Not the most concealable mags in the world. LOL

LCP has been my carry for several years, better something I can and will carry over something that's inconvenient part of the time, and gets left at home or in the car.... except in winter when I carry an old model 36 and three speedloaders in my coat....

It's not just about ammo capacity, it's about ergonomics and how it feels in the hands. If you can get a small package that feels great in the hands AND increased capacity to boot, why not! Over all, I loved my M&P Shield. The grip was a little too thin. And I LIKE thin! A friend has the M&P Compact! Too large! The Glock 43X feels great in the hand, is concealable, and you can get a 15+1 capacity with Shield Arms magazines. That's hard to beat!

The P365 use to sell for just below $500 before all this craziness happened. If you can get one for $100 - $150 more (NIB) than I suppose you could close your eyes, grit your teeth and pull out the charge card. If you even need it, you won't care that you paid a premium, and if you never have to use it in anger, you will sleep better knowing you have it. Unfortunately, (none of us really knew) just 8 months ago you could have gotten one for $475 - but that was that and now is now. It's all about supply and demand.

I paid slightly over $500, have shot well over 2,000 rounds through it and I am quite happy about replacing my M60-7 with it as an EDC.

IMHO one of the best loads to carry in it would be the Federal HST 124 grain standard velocity. Reliable, accurate, proven to work well.

I’m a simple man. I like large and medium size Autos and large, medium, and small revolvers. I’m just not a fan of small autos for ergonomic reasons.

Sip - you are a PO, most here aren't. In many areas if someone inadvertently sees your piece and calls the Police - you loose your permit for "brandishing" - you don't have that problem. Concealment means concealment yes we all know...... that said, things sometime happen. Carrying around a full sized auto is not a reality for many non LEO's. Just too big, heavy and cumbersome for practicality.

Strictly as a HD weapon not carried on your person - yes, large auto's are great.

Shortly after they were widely available, a guy in the stall next to mine was shooting one. I openly admired it and asked him how he liked it. He said it was amazing and graciously offered to let me shoot a magazine through it. It shot very well, about as well as the full-size P250 I was running that day (which is a tack driver). The sights probably could take most of the credit. They are somehow both very fast and very accurate. The trigger was also very nice, though it did have the tiniest bit of grit just before let off that I surmised would probably be mitigated by little bit more use. But for me and my abilities, the trigger is probably a bit too good. I wouldn't feel much more comfortable carrying that than carrying a 1911 with a mil-spec trigger in condition 0. I'm more of a DAO kind of guy as far as self-defense handguns go. And for that reason, I still love my wheelguns.

I tried to love the P365. Gave her every chance I could give her. She just wasn't for me... Nothing wrong with a 642! I carried a 442 for a few years.
Ditched the P365. Back to the Shield 45!

I've been wanting one with a thumb safety and couldn't find one anywhere but I found them 3 days ago online from Bass Pro Shops for $499 and bought one with my CC. It arrived in the store yesterday and it was a very quick and easy transaction so I would recommend Bass Pro or Cabelas, they seem to be able to get them quickly. I haven't shot the gun yet but I'm pretty impressed with it so far.

I bought two when they firs came out. After running 7000+ rounds through one of them I sold my Shield and my PM9. The little Sig is a fantastic carry gun and if you really want one get on the list as Sig is making them as fast as they can any your wait should not be a long one.

I still like my CZ75 compact. Yes, heavier and larger, but accurate and heavy enough to be used as a club at last resort! Dave_n
