New shoes for the 1903 Colt
Was wanting to spruce up my 1903 and came across these water buffalo grips that looked pretty nice. I had looked at several Elk and Sambar but just didn't find any that I though went well with the pistol but I do like these horn grips.

Thanks but I should have looked a little closer at that first photo before posting it's a bit out of focus.
I haven't had the 1903 for long only a bit more then a month and how I came by it would seem odd to non gun people.
I had my eye on a really cute little holster but had no idea what it fit but it was just to nice to pass up.
I posted it in the leather section here and asked for some help from the leather gurus. The conclusion was a 1903 or similar.
not to long after that a member here post a 1903 in the want to sell section so I bought it.
The holster and gun combo was to nice for just plain jane grips so then the hunt for those and I think I'm done for now.

The grips look great! What year was your Colt made? I couldn't really see what the SN started with, but looked sort of like a 2, so that would put it back quite a way. I also own a 1903, my SN is 540xxx and it is a blued 1943 vintage (mine is stamped US Property, was issued to my stepdad).
Great little pistols.

My 1903 was made in 1917, my bad on the out of focus photo the first two numbers are 24 on the Ser#.
Your US marked 1903 would command a higher price then mine and is more collectable. At one time I had a 1908 but alas I sold it, they are interesting little pistols.

Andy, I definitely like the way you think. Buy a holster and then buy a gun to fit it. I did the same thing about 15 years ago. I bought a vintage Heiser holster that was made for a K22, then bought a K22 to fit it.

The grips look great on that 1903. Also, it you're going to shoot it, the original black rubber grips (nice looking by the way) can be very fragile. Always good to shoot with something more durable. Nice find, and nice holster too!
