When your municipality won't let your LGS
sell you an AR there are alternatives. I dropped in to the shop yesterday and saw the unopened box leaning in the corner. Well it is my birthday week and I don't own a pistol caliber carbine, so why not be impulsive! I think it looks neat (my taste) and the owner quoted me a price that I couldn't say no to. I've stripped, inspected, cleaned and lubed it. I'm happy so far. Range time tomorrow!

An HK for a birthday present to yourself? Can't do much better than that. Congrats and happy birthday!

I actually plan on getting a pistol caliber carbine myself in the not-too-distant future, but I'll be kickin' it old school with a Rossi R92 Lever Action in .45 Long Colt.
I could own an AR or AK if I wanted to, but frankly I don't.
That being said, you made a fine choice. Congratulations.

Nice H&K, we have three pistols here and they are excellent firearms.

IF my municipality wouldn't sell me an AR I would move.
I find it especially ignorant that they won't let ARs be sold but, allow something like this. Good thing you have it now. I bet it won't be long before they don't allow those and they will likely want you to turn that one in. NitWits.

I have a USC but the trigger SUCKS!. If its less than 9 - 10# I'd be surprised. Its definitely a point and shoot BUT don't expect to get good grouping.

The stupidity of the Boulder City Council, is the brief answer. Almost 2 years ago they passed a local ordinance prohibiting the sale of and requiring the licencing of ARs and AKs despite overwhelming citizen opposition. We did not own an AR at the time and we lived on the east side of a road that remained free, the west side of our road had to licence their property. I will not go into the details of the fight or the obvious non-compliance regarding the ordinance.
I will say that I bought the last AR my favorite LGS had in stock just before the ordinance went into effect. I will also say that legally buying something as evil as an AR from them in this town pleases me. Off to the range soon!

What creature is that that lurks underneath the weapon?

I don't think those are legal in CA. Considered to be a AR and just the sight of one would throw people into a uncontrolled panic where they would then trample each other while jumping off a cliff.

I love Eddy and I like the new gun. It is an impressive and fun range toy. I had a CZ Scorpion that I got rid of because the blow back operation was very unsophisticated and I was concerned the HK might give me the same feeling. Nope, something in its design, heavy barrel?, recoil spring? helps to mitigate that big steel bolt thunk. 175 rds without a hiccup. Very accurate (tight groups) 50 yards or less and it puts the rounds on the paper out to 100 yards. The trigger is so bad it's almost funny. All in all I like it. Again, I must say, I really like how buying it shows how stupid the Boulder City council is when they pass ordinances based on fear and emotion.
