Default Waffenfabrik Bern Parabellum 06/29 bis

So after cleaning and checking my friend’s gun, I decided to get my own 06/29, but with the colourful red grips and mag bottom.

Those were produced for the Swiss army from 1933 to 1938 I believe. Thereafter W+F produced them with brown and then black plastic grips.

The material is canevasit, which is made of cotton fabric and phenolic resin.

So I’ll have a double range session tomorrow

Beautiful P08. Do you frequent the Luger Forum? That site is full of info about all P08s and their history as well.

Beautiful gun. The Swiss models with the prominent grip safety always look a bit odd to me.

I finally decided to tick off this item on my bucket list and bought a P.08; the German variant, though. I’ll post about it once I have it.

That is not a P.08. But I agree it's beautifull.

I was going to make the same remark, it is a Parabellum W+F (Waffenfabrik Bern) model 1929 or 06/29

I do not frequent the Luger forum yet, I’ll probably go on it the day I buy my first German Luger

Me, on the other hand, hope to get me a nice Bern one of these days.

Got a .30 DWM Portuguese contract of the 06 pattern very similar to the Swiss DWM ones.

And 3 P.08s. A DWM from 1916(or 1915, I'm not sure right now), an S/42(Mauser) from 1938 and a byf(Mauser) from 1941.

EDIT: Still trying to get my hands on a byf 42 from the 1943 Portuguese contract.

I understand the "big" grip safety is much easier to use than the standard one. If the spring is still very stiff it's a bit hard to use.
