Default 102 YEAR OLD SHOOTER

Not me, the gun. Today was the Great Wars Match at my club in Frederick, MD. Permitted arms are military handguns used by any armed forces from World War One to the end of World War II, their replicas and clones, so long as they are in the same configuration as the original military pieces. It's an easy match, 30 rounds, 25 yards, two-hands if you want. The object is to be able to bring out these classic pieces and shoot them a couple times a year. Among the guns being used were a Browning High Power and a 1917 Smith & Wesson. I was using a Mark VI British .455 Webley revolver, one that was in the original caliber rather than being converted to .45 ACP. The date of manufacture was 1918, making it 102 years old. I'm not a great shot but I put a lot of holes in the scoring rings.

I don't have many handguns which weren't used in WWI or WWII by one side or the other.

Sounds like a blast. What a great way to spend some trigger time with like minded people.

"102 YEAR OLD SHOOTER"

When I first saw the thread title, I thought you were referring to the age of someone doing the shooting. My reaction was, "What's the big deal? That's only slightly older than the age of the average Forum member."

Here's a couple of poses of my Webley MKI and a box of original .455 ammo. I have fired it and it is a shooter. Texsas Star took me to school on it a while back and I think it was made around the turn of the 20th century or shortly there after.

It’s fun to break out the seasoned firearms. My brother and I were shooting his1912 colt 1911 and my 1943 colt 1911a1 this weekend.

With Golddollar living so close to Gettysburg, a 102 year old gun should seem like new! I have lots of military rifles from "The Great War" and before, but all my military handguns are from later (except maybe my C-96)

Here's the 102 year old Swedish Mauser I used to shoot in vintage sniper matches. The scope is a youngster, it's only 78 years old. It will ring the birthday bell at 700 meters

Jack-

It's older, prob. 1890-94. MK IV was adopted in 1899, just in time for the Boer War.
