Since I was a kid, almost 80 years ago I have admired the Winchester lever guns. In 2002 I was in a gun shop in Woodbridge VA admiring a bevy of model 1894s. The manager, a good friend, asked me if I had ever put one together. He knew that I had a passion for rebuilding old S&W breaktops. I answered NO! He pulled out a large box from behind the counter and behold the birth of my obsession for pre-war 1894s. A box of screws , springs, and just about everything to build a 30-30 carbine, except the wood. I left the shop with a box of parts for $100.00 WITHOUT THE NOTION OF HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER. My education on Winchesters, began. For a number of years I have had the last 2 receivers in my stash of parts and with the "solitary confinement" brought on by COVID-19 my mental health was at risk! Soo, I started to build these final 2 rifles. The carbine was my first back in '02. These will be my last. I have not test fired the two "new ones" but plan to do so this month. I will leave them to my sons.

I have two regular 1894 Winchesters in 30-30.
One Canadian Centennial with the 20" octagon barrel in 30-30
One Canadian Centennial with the 26" octagon barrel in 30-30
And finally a Big Boar in 375 Winchester virtually unfired by me.

My Grandfathers deer rifle was a 1906 built 1894 in 25-35. I added a tang sight and front globe sight. Took it out a year or so ago and hunted with it taking a young doe. Need to get it out again and let it wander through the woods. Am more of a handgun guy but something about the lines of the rifle attract me.

The Winchester 1894 in caliber 25-35 is one of my most favorite rounds, so much so, that I have 3 carbines and a long rifle in this caliber. I reload for all my guns and I find that these old guns perform very well and I also like jacketed bullets, allbeit, at reduced velocities. All 4 are in the range of 100+ years old. Interesting that 2 of the 4 left the factory with peep sights and all 4 are drilled and tapped for the sight. Tiny screws!. The 38-55 is a great hunting round, also.

Have a few from 1886 to 1894 to 94's Nothing Post 1964. Love these rifles ... Ive built a few up from parts... a 1886 in 45-70. Great hobby and a bit of education to boot.
