A Real Short Barrel Remington
I met a friend at the range this morning. After shooting a few handguns, he walks back to his truck and brings back a V3 Tac 13. This appears to be a 1100 with a handgun brace and a 14 inch barrel. I don't know as I need one, but it is impressive.

They’re different that’s for sure- but nothing I have to have myself. I like my old 18” and 20” bbl 870s.

Wonder if these are still available, given the current Remington difficulties. I've placed an order via my LGS but no luck as yet.

I am certain some find those shotgun/handguns essential, but I would rather have something with a full stock and a longer barrel.

I see no reason for shot gun without a shoulder stock. As much as I’d love a sawed off barrel, I think it’s just because I can’t have one. A pump with an 18 inch slug barrel with a full stock is just about perfect. For my purposes. I do have a bull pup Mossberg that was fun for a while.

The wrist wrencher shotguns have a use, but not a use for me. I prefer a full stock.

21st Century Howdah pistol ...great for repelling tigers or boarders .
Who says this is a new idea...just an update of the old Howdah ... and still a pretty good powerful short range weapon .
A legal sawed-off shotgun ... I don't see a problem with that .

I do not think it should be thought of as a replacement for any other 12Ga. but rather just another specialized tool in the tool box. I have used both pump shockwaves and the model being discussed and find it great for some applications.

I have one of those and I love it. I keep a bandoleer full of reduced recoil shells with it. It takes some practice to learn to shoot it, but it is such fun !!

Yes, this model is dandy in the front seat of the pickup.

Stake out guns is all they are good for. I thought sure the new Shockwaves and such would show up as favorite Hood Rat gun. I guess even Hood Rats see little value in them. It’s like suppressors and machine guns. They are novelties and toys. I don’t have one at present but the Ithaca 37 police 8shot 12g was about slickest riot gun going. It never seemed as bulky as Rem, Moss or Wins. Start adding wrist braces to make them shoot like a gun with a stock, why not just get conventional riot gun and cut out the Feds fingers in the pie.

I'm currently on the road with my 870 police type with a Butler Creek side folder. Compact enough for me.

The ATF definition of a shotgun uses the term "shoulder". If it's not designed to be fired from the shoulder then it is no longer a shotgun which is why the boxes are labeled "Firearm".
Mossberg's Shockwaves are probably far easier to obtain presently than anything that Remington makes.
I prefer my Ithaca M37 18 inch myself.
AR handguns and similar are a whole nuthuh smoke.......

Two grown sons, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. I have a very difficult time keeping .22 rifles, deer rifles, or shotguns in my gun safe; they just seem to walk away with the kids.
The only shotgun I have left is an old Remington Sportsman 12 (plain jane 870 model with walnut stock, parkerized finish, 21" RemChoke barrel with vent rib, 12 gauge, 3" chamber). I added a set of swivels and a leather sling to make it easier to carry in the field.
With the IC choke tube installed it does a fine job with defensive loads for the house or as a road trip companion. With the modified tube it handles steel shot for waterfowl, or #6 field loads for pheasants and other game birds. With the Hastings Extra Full choke tube this gun has won every turkey shoot I have attended (frequently shooting against high-dollar custom made trap guns).
I keep telling the kids they can't have it yet, and I haven't promised it to any of them when I am gone. Might be one of those they will have to draw straws or roll dice to see who gets it. For the time being it serves every purpose I have for a shotgun. Not much to look at, but seriously effective in every way.
Others may feel free to enjoy what they like.

Some years back at a local fun show I picked up two 870's a few weeks apart. Took them home and with Knuhausen's bible had them up and running. One had a large burr on the lower receiver where the barrel shank went. Files, stones and some silicon carbide paper all served to eliminate that burr. In his book he said such a burr was caused by not having the mag tube cap fully tightened. Tested them at a local range and all worked great. Paid $200 for one and $195 for the other. Way cheaper than what Remington gets for their shorty. Frank

I really liked the Tac13’s when they came out. Built this SBS version with a Magpull SGA. Very comfortable setup for shooting slugs and buck. Especially compared to my KSG.
