I find this Cold Steel Outdoorsman Lite to be totally worth the $25-delivered it cost.

Here’s a trio of Carbon V tantos, made by Camillus for Cold Steel:
Top is a Kobun, middle a Recon Tanto, bottom an Oyabun.
The Kobun and Oyabun are hard to find these days, as they don’t come up often.

The blade on many designs have more belly, aiding in draw cuts in my experience. Generally the blades I have seen are fairly thick and strong. The best I have seen are convex ground, giving a strong edge.
