Who notes the local Sheriff's office, St. Johns County, issues .40 Glocks in 3 sizes.
PA State Police had the .45 GAP for a brief time, maybe three years. They switched to the P227. I think NY State Police had the GAP also.

On a couple of occasions I was tasked to provide guard for large sums of money at Ft. Knox. A couple of times, rather than draw a 1911 in .45 from the Arms Room I decided to carry my Series 70 in .38 Super. I hate to think of what the consequences would have been if I had ever had to use it.

In the Texas National Guard: M1, then at Basic training: M14, then Texas National Guard again: M16A1, and M16A2.

What's not to love about a 7.62mm machine gun that assembles it's bolt from pieces a thousand times a minute?

Yes, I am old.
M1, M14, .45acp, Mi carbine. Sadly, I had to give them all back.

M16A1 and a 1911A1. Sometimes I took an M-79 from the arms room (I worked there for a while).

Issued a carbine (yes I put a switch in it) as I drove a deuce and a half shop van when I was the division armorer for the 1st Cav Div in Korea in 1959 but I kept a grease gun with several mags loaded in the cab, except when we were doing IG inspections, too much brass around. I could build anything I wanted as I had replacement receivers in inventory for everything from 1911's up to 50 cal Brownings. I usually worked late into the night before driving back to our compound (27th Ordnance Bn.) and you never knew. Later on issued an M1 in Germany.

No military duty here. As a deputy sheriff reservist, we had to provide our own sidearm. I bought a brand new Colt Series 70 Government Model in .45 (c. 1979) and carried it loaded with G.I. ball ammo.
