Default T/C Patriot

A buddy had one years ago and foolishly traded it off. He recently bought another. I coveted the one he had back then. Havenít seen the new one.
I have a chance at one if no one else gets it first. Iím not sure how often Iíd shoot it though. Maybe Iím just trying to recapitalize my youth. I donít know. Any opinions on the gun? Not me though

I've always felt that used Thompson/Center guns (in good shape) are profound values. The Patriot certainly had a following back when I worked in a gun store between college and law school, and I can understand why.

Best of luck finding one you can bring home for a great price!

I had one years ago. Fired it some, and I remember it was accurate. Never really used it after that, and ended up using it for trade fodder for something else I really wanted at the time. It was very well made and finished.

If I remember right, they also offered the Patriot in a do it your self kit gun form. Obviously, the fit and finish will vary on those. I think they were differentiated by a different serial number / marking?

One of the most accurate muzzle loading handguns I ever owned. When loaded and shot well it will print as good as any modern firearm.

When I lived in Canada (under their horrible gun laws), the Peel Regional Firearms Control Officer was a guy I knew as Constable Martin.
He was a bit of an odd duck, compared to other law enforcement officers I've known, but still a good guy.
He had one of the Thompson Center Patriot pistols in 45 cal (they also came in 36 cal.). He used to get a kick out of shooting on the indoor department range, filling the place with smoke, partly just to get a rise out of everyone else there. When he wasn't shooting it, he kept it in his office, hanging off a hook in a plastic grocery bag.
The old T/C muzzleloading guns filled a real void. They were quality American made smokepoles sold for a good price. While they looked traditional, they all featured unique original designs and innovations.
All the competitors at their price range (CVA, Lyman, Navy Arms, etc.) were bringing in rebranded imports from Spain and Italy. The quality was all over the place.

Black powder is fun! Go for it! Enjoy!
