Nope, no pics, I just remember it from an old Brownells Big Book that got destroyed in Hurricane Wilma before we moved to SC in 2007. When we got settled in and I finally ordered another Big Book, it was no longer listed.
Had the donor pistol below, along with cut-outs for a mag and the conversion kit above. Had cut-outs for the slide/mag and small parts above the donor pistol.
Slightly different now, since the donor pistol is the .22lr (Service Model ACE), and the conversion is a Series 70 .45acp, top end. The only thing that is different is, that the ACE requires a different slide stop (marked with a #2), to work with the ACE mags. This is very rare and not cheap to replace. I was quoted $65+shipping several years ago, so, I have no spare. The slide stop for the .45acp (overpolished and ruined), cost a whopping $12, shipped, for a NOS part. Quite a difference! Loss is the biggest worry over actually wearing one out, but I always keep the ACE assembled and the .45acp top end as a "if needed" accessory. I've got other 1911s to shoot.
Got a feeling it's going to be a Pelican case if they still offer the custom laser cutting of the foam inserts for their cases.
Anyone have any experience with this service? It would be appreciated.
Thank you!
