a 1923 made Remington Model 33 single shot. some blue, more patina and many many small love marks in the stock. great bore w/good rifling. if it could talk it could tell you about many long walks thru the fields and woods and the countless small game it took. Lee

I'd check the bore on an old .22. Corrosive primers and powder of that era can cause a lot of corrosion where it can't be seen on the outside.

Had one of those a few years ago shot great. An older gentleman talked me into selling it to him said he had one as a kid.

I have a Win. 1906 (made in 1911) with a bore that can only be described as totally rotted inside... it has craters and worse in there. I've never missed a soda/pop can at 25 yds with it..... With treasures like these, I overlook the bad bores and just treasure their 'history' and classic looks. Don't overthink... BUY IT.

I bought a Meriden pump .22 w/out checking the bore and it was ruined. I had it sleeved; can't live with a rotten bore. If I'd checked before hand, I wouldn't have bought it. It's an old .22, I used to know when it was made but I've forgotten.

I have a model 33....went to a friend’s place to buy his dad’s early 1940s’ daisy Red Ryder BB gun and he says, “oh I have this old 22 from my grandpa..” he wasn’t interested in the sentimental value so I bought them both and he threw in another older daisy for $75 otd....they all shoot great and the Remington quickly became special to me.... lucky for me the bore is good and shoots fine...
I thought these were only made in 1930 but see them Remington history site shows 1932-1935...

I collect Winchester single shot .22s and just last year found the last two models I was missing, a model 58 and a model 1900. The 1900 was Winchester's first .22 bolt action and the only one designed by John Browning. I wish these old rifles could talk. I have one of every model Winchester SS .22 they made, but I'll never live long enough to collect all the variations. Here's a few, they range in age from 1900-to the 60s

I have a Savage youth gun. Without looking I think it is patent 1904. It belonged to my great uncle. Let's see, he died in 2009 and was 99 so he was born in 1910. he got it when he was 10 years old ( 1920) for being a good boy when he had his tonsils out on the kitchen table.

My mother said it put a lot of meat in the pot during the depression

I am always amazed at the quality and obvious pride of workmanship you find in these old budget single shot 22’s. Particularly Remington and Winchester. I would shudder to think what it would cost if such rifles were available new today, and if anyone would even be capable of manufacturing them.

I was just given a model 55 like your forth photo it's one of the most strange designs I've ever seen.
