A Remmie and a Winnie
picked these two up last Saturday at a gun show. first is a Remington 41 Targetmaster: single shot pull cock made in 1938. very good condition for it's age. this will replace one identical to it that has been in my family since 1939. it has served me well. I learned to shoot with when I was five and my dad had to cock it for me. it will be cleaned, waxed and retired until my nephew comes to visit and then it will be passed on to him(and one of his six sons).
second one is a Winchester 68, which i found out from another forum member is a Model 67 with a peep sight where the regular rear sight should be. also a single shot, pull cock. enjoy. Lee

While on the topic of a Remmie and a Winnie:
Remington and Winchester: as good as it got in the 1930's -- and for many a year fore and aft.
But alas, despite greatness, like all they succumbed to the inexorable ebb and flow of business economics.

I don't have a good picture of my winnie 68.
But I'll throw in a remmie model 34 and a kids gun I like a Stevens crackshot.

My dad had one of those single-shot 22s with a scope but I remember the pull cock thing. If I remember, it had a little flat thing that was a safety. I think it was a Remington, it looks like the first picture. He had the scope set for 75 yards, and never missed a ground hog. Do either of these guns have that safety on them? Dad's gun is at my sister's in Texas, she's gonna bring me that and his model 94 30-30 if she can ever travel again. The cooties virus is keeping us all pretty much travel-free.

I learned to shoot with a Winchester 1900 that my mother received as a little girl to keep the farm clear of critters that eat the crops. This one was 22 long not lr.

Those walnut stocks are really something to admire. These models from the past exhibit great quality and craftsmanship. Great to see these old beauties.
