Ended up with this basket case. The rifle
Is totally dismantled and I can not find
and info on assembly of the magazine.
Any one know where I can view a exploded
view of this gun.

I had a super nice condition U.S. issued Ross in my collection before I started thinning things out. There's tons of info in the net on bolt assembly, but not much on the magazine. I couldn't find a good exploded view of the magazine, but I found this sketch that might offer some help New her and new Ross

MK111 not the same. Not very many parts
but has me beat, will put it away for awhile
And look at it with fresh eyes.

All I could find is a manual that shows it assembled.

These use a somewhat standard looking magazine box sitting on the trigger guard like nearly all other bolt actioned rifles.

But for the magazine spring and follower they used what was called a 'Harris Controlled Platform'.

There is no Mauser/Springfield 'ZigZag ' type spring under the mag follower to give it it's upward tension (That would have been too easy I guess)

Instead the mag follower is pushed upward by a long arm which extends forward from the front of the magazine box. The slit opening in the box is for that arm to pass and move up and down.

The lifter arm is quite long and extends towards the muzzle underneath the bbl to a point just about even to where the rear sight is on the topside of the bbl.
The lifter arm is pinned and pivots from that point.

A spring located underneath the lifter arm about half way betw the front of the mag box and that pivot point gives the lifter arm and it's attached mag box follower upward spring tension.

One more feature is usually present,,,On the right side of the bbl, just in front of the action is a depressor tab.
This is attached to the lifter arm inside.
It's purpose is to allow the shooter to more easily depress the spring tension on the mag follower for loading by using the leverage allowed with the Depressor. Then simply dropping the rounds into the box magazine and not fighting the spring pressure of the follower and lifter arm.

Needed or not,,that was it's intent.
It was on the MkI Ross as well IIRC.

I don't have a 1905 Ross,,the 1910 I have is a more conventional set up.
I do have the Ross book somewhere. I'll see if I can find the book and any assembly & parts pics in it.

Found the Ross book. One photo of the follower, lifter arm and depressor tab (all assembled as one unit).
2 versions pictured, a 1905 and a 1907. The latter a slightly altered follower platform.

Not much in the way of complete magazine views or schematics that I found.

Seemed to be more info on the MkIII magazine. That's the complicated one that jammed easily in the dirt and mud.
Both versions seemed to be a solution looking to solve a none existant problem with the standard Mauser/Springfield staggered box mag w/detachable floorplate.
