I have a almost new model 60 that my friend wants. It was in my brothers collection and only has a couple of scratches on the stock from being crowded in a safe. I seriously don't think it's been shot.

?1, Date. The serial is 13,332,XXX and located on the left side of the receiver and stamped New Haven on the barrel. (1987?)

?2, What's a FAIR price? I can't give it away because I have to put the money back into the Estate.

I have other guns and accessories that will be up for sale as soon as I can figure prices. I might need help there as well.

I think the new ones had a list price around $200. I am thinking you ask for $100 or 150 depending on how you want to treat the person.

I have a DOM 1982 NIB that I gave 150.00 for 14 years ago. Anything new manufacture I would pass. Excellent rifle.

Agree with prices. Marlin sold a zillion of em for sure. That Model 99 M1 with clip feed is a very sought after model also. Like those gold plated triggers they used to have.

I have a 1973 model given me by my father. It is still an excellent plinker. Monetarily I put it at $100 but it is going nowhere except to one of my grandsons.

I bought a 1987 model in very good condition two years ago for $105. It has a 22" barrel and 18 shot tube. I had previously bought a newer model also in very good condition, 19" barrel, 14 round tube, for $125. Both are blued with wood stock.

If you really want to see current market values, check Gunbroker for recent selling prices.

I usually consider $125 top end for a used model 60, and that would usually be for a "premium" model like stainless or the M1 carbine style. $100 for a regular on in good condition.

A minimum of $150. That's a friend price. If it's as nice as you say then currently $200 to anyone else.

It should be stamped 'North Haven' on the bbl, unless Marlin found an old stash of NewHaven bbl's nearly 20yrs after they made the move.

..and I wouldn't be surprised either with the amt of parts they brought over from NewHaven to the then new North Haven plant in 67/68.

No matter the bbl's would both be Micro-groove rifled. Good accurate bbl's.

An 80's Marlin M60 in excl condition to a friend,,,$100 to $150 IMO.


The Remlin mfg ones are just under $200 IIRC. Most people would rather have a Marlin Mfg I'd guess.
I learned to despise the little rifle in it's tube feed forms when I worked there in the early 70's. But that was because of problems with a sintered metal feed throat & ejector that Marlin dragged it's feet to fix.



The Marlin Model 60 was orig the Marlin Model 99 when it was first intro'd in '59.

Marlin used the Model 60 designation for their Glenfield edition of the same rifle.

The Glenfield M60 outsold the M99 MArlin over the years by quite a number.
At some point in the late 70's or early 80's, Marlin decided to drop the Glenfield line of rifles altogether.
When they did that, they kept the Model 60 designation and gave it over to the Model 99,, as the 'Model60' was proven better seller.
Then retired the Model 99 Marlin designation altogether.

I bought a new one a couple years ago. It went back to Marlin twice. They sent me a brand-new one. That one is most excellent. It is accurate and it's yet to malfunction even with Thunderbolts.

$150- 200 for an older one in as nice a condition as you say. I had one with a scope I could hit dimes with at 50 yards.

Funny you should mention the Squirrel!! I've got an old Glenfield Model 60 that has one of those at the bottom of the grip, each side!! She thrives on the CCI Mini Mags and she'll put that bullet right where you aim it!! I dated her back to about 1972-73!

She's not quite in mint condition as far as finish but a VERY dependable shooter!!

While the Marlin M60 was a relatively inexpensively made rifle and certainly nothing great to look at, the ones that I have shot over the years all managed to work well and shoot fairly good groups.

Unless you are certain you will never use it, I'd keep it! For the $150 - $200 bucks you might get for it, I'd suggest actually keeping it. If there is certainty on your part that you will never use it, then sell it - $150 - $175 seems about right these days. Worth more if made when Marlin was Marlin.

OH BTW I WOULDN'T SELL ANY WEAPON NOWADAYS....MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE DURING BAD TIMES.
