Default Thought I was done accumulating -- But I'm hopeless

Since Covid started I sold 2 long guns. I was really proud of myself for scaling back.
And then someone had the nerve to post on an online advertising website
a pre-WW2 20 gauge Remington 31 in very good original condition:

This made me fall off the wagon and back on the road to ruin.

On the other hand, and in my defense (as if I need one on this Forum of unrepentant gun-buying enablers), there can be no doubt that it will go nicely with my Remington 17:

P.S. Thanks to all on this Forum for teaching me that it's okay to treat myself to something nice once in awhile
(and of course -- to not wait too long in between ).

As one of this forum's "unrepentant gun-buying enablers", I would say you did the right thing. Very nice!

You will like that 20 ga. M-31. I've had mine for 55 years, a gift from my Grandfather, my first firearm. Mine is the lightweight aluminum receiver version. They are without doubt the slickest action pump guns ever made, single action rod and all. Mine cycles like an automatic. If I didn't have too many shotguns I would be poking around for a nice 12 ga. M-31. I too am a hopeless accumulator and it's fun.

I am not into shotguns at all, but I can relate to the hopeless accumulator part.

Very nice indeed. Great score and it looks very mint. A great gun built from milled parts back then. Thanks for sharing.

Living in New Jersey, it is very bothersome to accumulate handguns. On the other hand, after you go through the onetime process of getting the NJ Firearms ID Card all it takes to get a shotgun is a NICS check. This has pushed me in the direction of accumulating long guns instead of handguns. And from my perspective, given the lack of interest in hunting, you can get a lot more for your money in shotguns than handguns.

Thanks
But it's not mint, which is how I like my guns. I can use it as much as I want (within reason) and not detract from its condition.

I've been saying "I really need to slow down after this one" since May. The problem is that guns that I am keeping an eye out for keep popping up at prices that I can't say no to.

Remington model 17 ...
The Sweetest of bird, bunny and squirrel hunting guns .
My father passed my grandfathers model 17 on to me in 1968 , I fell in love with it and hunt with it every chance I get . We have spent a lot of time in the field and taken a lot of game ... it shines when bird (quail) hunting .

Don Zutz, one of the best shotgun writers ever, told me he admired the M31 and preferred it to the Winchester M-12

There is no done..... unless you have at least one of EVERYTHING that you have ever wanted or THOUGHT that you wanted..... and/or you can stay out of places that sell good guns and have no contact with friends/family that may have good guns...

'course that's just my opinion,.... I could be wrong...
