Default 2020 Python

I was just saying the other day..."where is my python"? It has been on order for just over a year.I received word today I can pick her up in a couple days!! Last gun of the year and I think it will be a dandy.I have three of the older pythons and look forward to adding this 6 inch to the stable!!
Now,to add a 2021 Blue snub Python.I have not heard anything of their production however I am hopeful

Good luck, it's not your dad's Python. It took more than six months to get a Python back from Colt, they couldn't fix the muzzle damage so they replaced it. I hope that your experience is better than mine.

Smile Long wait

I look forward to your Review and Range Test. I'm still not ruling
out getting the 2020 Python.

Your right it definitely is not your Dad's old Python. It's build
better, with new manufacturing technics, and the firing innards
are designed a lot better.

Very impressively made. Should do as good as my S&W 686!

Can't wait for the rumored 2021 Anaconda 44Mag.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

That is a Spectacular way to end such a unremarkable year

I love all the good news on the NEW Pythons.

I look forward to your next Python post

I own several, I guess we can call them Original Pythons? Or like the Glock boys would probably say a Gen 1 Python

My 6" and 8" Blue Pythons are my favorites for the range. The 6" with the factory Elliason sights has put lots of bullets down range

My 2 1/2" and 4" Bright Stainless are my carry guns. They may be difficult to photograph, but they look awesome in person. Walt Sherman did his roller bearing action conversion to my snubby a few decades ago. It is truly amazing. At the time I was planning on shooting PPC snubby matches but things got in the way and that never happened. One of the LTs I worked with back then said the DA pull on that 2 1/2" was like "dragging a hot knife through warm butter"

I would love to have a 6" Stainless to round out things.

I have looked under the hood and really like the update that has been done to the action

Perhaps 2021 will be the year of the NEW Python for me

Default Shooting the 2020 Colt Python

It took 11 months for my 2020 python to arrive. I paid 10% over list price to get it. The double action is different from the original Python but it is user friendly and has about the same trigger weight (appx 10 pounds). The single action trigger weight is about double (5 pounds) that of the original python.

My first duty gun was a Colt Python and I have not been without at least one Python for the last 55 years.

I bought my second 2020 python about one month ago. It was one of only three revolvers in the display case at my local gun range. I got a range member discount of 10% from the sticker (list price) price.

Sometimes things have a way of balancing out.

I handled and shot a new 2020 production Python yesterday. It belongs to a customer at the local range. He let me examine it and shoot it briefly.

Fit and finish was excellent! I was immediately taken back to the days when I got to handle and shoot original Pythons at the police range with my father. Zero tool marks. Finish on the 6 inch stainless gun was superb. Beautiful gun!

I fired 6 rounds of WWB 130 grain 38 into a sub 2 inch cloverleaf at 20 yards. The trigger was buttery smooth with a crisp let off. The pull was every bit as good as a Colt Python with Colt Custom shop work done to it that I got to shoot over a decade ago.

The new Python is a FINE revolver. As soon as they make a 4 inch, I will have one. Slightly expensive, as all new guns are these days. But unlike many others, THIS ONE is worth it. And worthy of the name Python too! Regards 18DAI

The 6" and 4.25" were announced at the same time and are both in production. (Please ignore if you knew that and are waiting for a true 4"!)

I'm definitely taking my time getting one. I refuse to pay over MSRP, but I know Colt will never pull a Ruger and make so many that I'll find them in the CDNN catalog for 2/3rds list price down the road.

Every time I open the safe and see the tuned 686-4 6" 7 shooter there, I know I already have a Python beater. No firearms lawyer would let that SA trigger out of the factory, I doubt it's over 2lb and DA is in the 7.5lb range.

On my "to buy" list. Waiting for prices to drop back under MSRP. I'm seeing some movement that way.

They are available, but $500 to $1,000 over makes me a looker, not a buyer.

From internet chatter, I think they have fixed their original quality problems.

YES
$1499 is MSRP for either barrel length

That is really not too bad.

The crazy guys at CZ/Dan Wesson have the 6" Model 715 at an MSRP of $1999

After this China Virus Crisis is over and the world stabilizes, the new Pythons will once again be available for less than MSRP

There was a lot of enthusiasm for the New Python, which is hard to gauge nowadays because of the Panic. I wonder, ten years from now, how the New Python will be seen, if they're still in production then. If ANY revolvers will be in production in 2031. Colt brought back the SAA but it reportedly isn't as nice as the originals.
