Default Remington Model 12A, Custom

I've been looking at this for a couple months now at a local pawn shop and I finally broke down. The date code shows November, 1928. This little "take down" functions beautifully and had only lead deposits in the tube which I removed. Someone put their heart and soul into the inlay some time ago. The metal has all been re-blued by a competent individual. Now all I have to do is grab a bunch of .22 ammo (S. L. & LR) to find out what it likes and see how accurate it is.

Neat little rifles. They lagged behind their Winchester counterparts in popularity for years (at least in my area), but seem to be catching up now.

The Winchester pumps sometimes seem unachievable, especially in high condition. I'm happy to have this non-original M-12A.

I had a 12A and still have a 121, which gets shot a lot every spring on ground squirrels. The extractor can be a little fragile on the 12A, so treat it with care. I would shoot standard velocity lead bullet ammo in it if it were mine.

Thumbs up Take Stock in Remington

Congratulations on your new purchase of that Unique Remington

Please give a Range Report when you get a chance

I like it, but of course I like Rem Mdl 12s.

These are my last two bricks of post Korean War .22 ammo. I had a whole can (original military) but, alas, I sold most of it. This is what I will shoot mostly. I will also try the RWS subsonic. That stuff is very accurate. Will report.

Nice rifles the Rem Model 12 series.
They function beautifully and are very accurate.

They should be used with StdVel ammo only. HV has a chance of cracking the bolt especially across the locking shoulder.
That area was one of the improvements made in the rifle when they were upgraded to the Model 121.

I still have a very worn Model 12B marked Gallery Special on the left side of the frame. Cal .22 Short only.

The first 6" of so of the bore is shot out, no finish at all and shows lots of use. A couple of extra holes D&T'd in it's octagon bbl.
But surprisingly it's all still there and functions & shoots fine.

my big brother got dad's 12A... so I found one and had it restored.. have 2 bricks of Remington shorts waiting to go..
most fun I ever had was with dad's 12A and 22 shot shells.. walking grandma's alfalfa stubble kicking up grasshoppers and shooting them on the fly... 12 years old & a pump 22.. perfect combination

Got it to the range this morning. 7 shots, standing position, at 15 yards with my tremors. I was able to get a few in the center but pulled a few. This thing is way more accurate than I can shoot, and I wish I had brought my rest.
