Dalton Auto knife?
I didn't want to hijack ncbeagle's thread about auto knives.
A few years back, an acquaintance showed me his auto knife (switchblade?).
He said it was a Dalton Hunter and that they were very rare because the designer (Dalton?) was not "politically correct" (?)
I never thought of switchblades as being "politically correct" but never heard any more of the story and the auto knife thread made me curious.
Anybody here know of Dalton auto knives or their designers story?
John?

Thank you very much, pawngal!
He seems to have made and sold a rather large variety of knives, according to the Arizona Custom Knives link that you provided.
From $65.00 tom $1800.00. Quite a range!
The 20 year old thread didn't seem to shed much light on his "politically incorrect" reputation, just that his offerings and customer service could be of mixed quality.
Then again, we often hear that same thing about companies that are more "near and dear" to us.
BTW, I think I still have a "Super Snooper" radar detector from the 1970s around here, but I'm guessing you were referring to your on-line search prowess.
Thanks again!
John

Unfortunately, that link will not open for me.
I was able to glean that some people think he is/was a biker with ties to the aryan nation while others think he may be a myth.
I guess a person can never tell what the facts may be (in reality) on the internet.
Thanks!

Is this the same individual behind Dalton Combat Cutlery aka DCC?
Sites that offer autos have no offerings from DCC so I thought the business folded.

Thanks, Ralph, but I tried that and I get an error message that says, "This sight can't be reached."
It might just be my old computer.
Does it work for you?

I don't know.
Was that the company that Rob Dalton had?

It just showed another forum and some comments on whether the guy was racist or not and how that pertains or is perceived to buying his stuff.

I've done some more digging around, seems at one time he had a bike shop of some sort, his later made knives do have symbols of white supremacist/Nazi nature. Last known mfg date is 2010. Interestingly, seems to have vanished from public view.
I knew the Dalton name sounded familiar, I sold this one from my late husband's collecction thru Arizona Custom Knives. It was an awesome auto, HARD firing!

I did more Googling after my post and came across a picture collection of Dalton knives and I answered my question i.e. it is the same business.
I'd guess the comments about more customized are the likely result rather than a mass production of certain models.

One of the comments ("Has he ever made a pedobear knife? There may be a gap in his line.") made me lawl!

Dalton concentrated on quantity rather than quality.
Compare a Dalton to a Microtech and you will easily see the difference.

I respectfully disagree on the quality point. I own Marfione's knives and Rob's knives. Both are of high quality. Since Microtech introduced their new logo years ago (for less expensive knives) they went after the production/mass market. They are still good knives, just not hand ground by Tony and son. Here is a Dalton, that I'm sure I have posted before, that could offend some, but I like it. It reminds me of the war. If anyone has a copy, please post it. I've not seen another. The grey handle knife is more common.
I hope to commission one with a similar theme.
