Default 1st “new” gun of 2021

The Colt M1911A-1 I won on the CMP auction last month arrived yesterday. It’s from 1939, shipping to the Navy in Virginia in late November 1939. I’m very pleased with it, can’t wait to take it to the range. The barrel is a 1980’s replacement, but that doesn’t bother me. I wanted a gun that had seen use, too bad it can’t talk.

I picked this one because it was a 1939 Colt, all of which shipped to the Navy. Dad was born in 1939, and my grandfather had worked for the Navy for 41 years (1924-1965) at the Philly Navy Yard.

It’s probably a good thing that they are limiting me to one 1911 per lifetime. If they didn’t I could go broke really fast on that auction site. I also have to say that CMP were great to deal with. I sent my paperwork in on the 23rd, they shipped the gun on the 30th, and it was at my local shop at 9am yesterday. Can’t beat that.

That's a great way to start the new year. Congratulations. She's a beauty. It's always nice to have a firearm with a history behind it.

Here's my 1st new (secondhand) gun for 2021, a Ruger P85 that I picked up for $200 AUD ($155 USD in Jan 2021). Looking forward to getting her to the range as I've never shot a Ruger Centrefire Pistol before.

Last Sunday I got a Victory .38 S&W revolver. Real tight action, shipped in late 1942 or early 1943. Nice revoler, but a friend "just" had to have it, so I sold it to him. Just had it long enough to search some of the data on it.

Wink So this is...

My real first gun of 2021. I'm currently still waiting on the "paperwork" of things I bought in 2020(the Erfurt P.08 being the first of those). But this one I marked when I picked up the Luger on Friday(it had just arrived to the LGS), and, since the caliber is now condidered obsolete, there is no "paperwork". I expect to pick it up tomorrow.

I have kept my "eyes peeled" for one of these for sometime now.

Finally. A "not so bad" Nagant revolver. Made in Tula Arsenal in 1940.

Photos from the seller. They don't do it justice.

Seller shipped it in 2020 but, delivery times being what they are now, it just arrived last week. I've wanted a 1917 for a long time and this one is in even better shape than I'd hoped.

I got one from them in the lottery deal they had. Mine has a colt slide and a Remington Rand frame from 1943. Overall I am very happy with the gun I received as well even though I did not get to see it firs.

You should enjoy that one and they seem to continue to go up in value. Here is the one I received last year.
