Commie BBQ gun
Comrade Brezhnev either demonstrating his draw or indicating who he is going to shoot next. Plenty of social lubricant present! Anyone id the gun?

He was friends with Chuck Connors, and was gifted SAAs that he used as an actor.

Yeah, plenty of booze, a couple of bottles of Stolichnaya maybe some Johnnie Walker and more. I wonder if Chuck Conners supplied the holster and belt too?

I just read on Wikipedia;
Connors was introduced to Leonid Brezhnev, the leader of the Soviet Union, at a party given by Nixon at the Western White House in San Clemente, California, in June 1973. Connors presented Brezhnev with a pair of Colt Single Action Army "Six-Shooters" (revolvers) which Brezhnev liked greatly. Upon boarding his airplane back to Moscow, Brezhnev noticed Connors in the crowd and went back to him to shake hands, and jokingly jumped up into Connors' towering hug. Few American TV programs were allowed on Soviet television at that time; The Rifleman was an exception, because it happened to be Brezhnev's favorite show. Connors and Brezhnev got along so well, that Connors accepted an invitation to visit the Soviet leader in Moscow in December 1973. After Brezhnev's death in 1982, Connors expressed an interest in returning to the Soviet Union for the General Secretary's funeral, but the U.S. government would not allow Connors to be part of the official delegation.
This is interesting too about Mr. Conners:
He is one of only 13 athletes in the history of American professional sports to have played both Major League Baseball (Chicago Cubs, 1951) and in the National Basketball Association (Boston Celtics 1947–48).

No he didn't give him holsters with the Colts, and the Party Secretary was heard to be disappointed by the omission.
He had a holster and belt produced for the guns, upon his return to the USSR.

Per Wikipedia, Nikita Khrushchev died in 1971. So if Connors presented Brezhnev with that revolver in '73, that would have to be Nikita's ghost.

He always looked ruggedly athletic, but after that first meeting in Nixon's backyard they became friends.
When Chuck went to see him off at the end of his visit, Brezhnev famously threw himself up into Chuck's arm and gave him a big bear hug.

I remember seeing the bear hug on the news.
BTW, Conners was also the first player in the NBA to break the backboard.

My U.S. Coast Guard ship did a port call to Vladivostok in May of 1991. The bottles of dark brown liquid on the table are vodka in which they have poured small bottles of something they called brandy to give it "flavor". The vodka does not have screw caps or stoppers, it has a peel off aluminum top.

He enjoyed doing DIY kind of stuff around his house immensely, it was one of the things he did to "depressurize" off screen.
With his athletic prowess and long legs, he was the first to do the run and jump mount of a horse from behind.
It was also due to his long arms that he was able to manage the spin cock of that 20" barreled '92 Winchester without whacking himself in the face in the process.

Yeah, Chuck was minding his own business when that commie was here on a state visit, a guest of Richard Nixon. When Brezhnev was asked if there was any American he wanted to meet, he asked to meet Connors.
So Chuck, a former altar boy and Army tank warfare instructor during WWII, obliged the request of his President.

They were doing the leak frog mount back in the silent movies.
A real cowboy named Yakima Canutt and he taught Douglas
Fairbanks.
Canutt was a champion bronc rider, bulldogger and also competed in roping events.

Interesting.... the bio I read, made the claim that it was Connors... maybe the first TV cowboy ?
Guess it goes to reinforce the notion that one really has to take everything with a grain of salt.

I am guessing that Brezhnev was celebrating after a hunt in the OP post #1. On page 80 of the Nov. 2020 "Firearms News" magazine there is a picture of Brezhnev with the same revolver strapped on while posing with a rifle, obvious hunting excursion, with the same clothes.

Canutt was also the one who went under the stagecoach in "Stagecoach." He was John Wayne's stuntman in his early movies and appeared with Wayne in a lot of the "Gower Gulch" B movies.

I recall at the time of the "bear hug" incident a reporter asked Connors if he was a "card carrying communist". Completely deadpan, he replied "No, I'm a communist carrying card".

The pine boughs on the hunter's caps are a European hunting tradition. I learned of it from a colleague when stationed n Germany.
He was a member of a German club and needed to learn all the customs.
