Default Another Blast From My Past....

Had one of these AMT Automag .22 magnums many years ago and it was a fun gun. Got this today for a bargain price.

Excellent. That looks like a late one, made by Galena for AMT. I have one of the AMT Automag II's and contrary to the bad rap that AMT's often get, mine works perfectly.
I will qualify that though by saying it works perfectly with several brands of .22 Mag ammo, as long as they are 40 grain loads. It does not like the light weight "Maxi-Mag" type loads.
I do have some S&B 45 grain FMJ's and Winchester 45 grain Dynapoints to try too. They might be just the ticket when you want a heavier bullet or more penetration.

Try the 40 grain Super X, Remington and Fiocchi ammo in case you have malfunctions. It seems that both the powder type and burn rate, along with the recoil impulse from the bullet weight are the deciding factors for the narrow window needed for reliable functioning. At least that has been my experience.

On the other hand, my S&W Model 48 digests anything and gets the leftovers from the Automag.
