Default Taurus Spectrum - Cow patty panic on the prairie

Last Friday I took my new Taurus Spectrum out for a test run. It was tested on frosty/frozen prairie cow patties - I put those patties through some .380 acp HELL. They tried "laying low" but when I stuck that little 90 grain pill under them they jumped up and flew in all directions - There was plenty of cow patty PANIC on the prairie !!

When I had first brought this new gun home, I tried hand running a mag of ammo through it. The FMJ bullets were jamming into the bottom SHARP edge of the barrel feed ramp -- OH NOOOOO -- Did I just buy a "jam-o-matic" !? I took the barrel out (easy-peasy) and rounded over that edge with a needle file. Success ! It flawlessly functioned through it's first box of 50 live fire rounds.
It shot to point of "cow patty" aim just fine. I did have to use the front pad of my FAT finger to ensure room enough to properly re-set the trigger between shots. It is a very "comfy" shooter with its soft molded contoured grip -- ( I DO like a comfy grip )
My EDC for the last 7 years has been the earlier Taurus TCP (slightly smaller striker fired model) It has fed everything perfectly for me with nary a single "bobble".
It will continue as my EDC, but I think I have a realiable back-up for it with the Spectrum.

Yeah, I have a TCP for deep concealment when I need something really small.

It has worked so reliably for me that I didn't feel the need for a Spectrum, especially since it is actually a little bigger.

It looks cooler, but that isn't enough incentive for me to buy one.

That looks like something that Buck Rogers would carry.

It has been a while since I have shot cow patties, but they are a fine, worthy adversary.

When shooting cow patties, hold for bone. A wounded cow patty is a dangerous opponent.

Make sure they are dry, especially up close with a shotgun!

Default Shoot to stop!

Having worked on cattle ranches in west Texas, I can state that a charging cow patty knows no mercy! Sometimes it takes 2 shots to anchor that little monster. I worked a 64,000 acre ranch, and was ambushed by many a prairie muffin, when I wasn't careful.
They'll sneak up on you while you're opening a gate, shooting a snake but they are really clever when you start working cattle in a pen.. I've more than once been knocked down by a heifer, only to land on a gang of marauding bovine biscuits, by falling flat on my como se llama .
Killed a few by stepping on them with a boot heel... Be careful, yall

I thought I was the only one that tested out new guns on lurking cow patties.

Newborns are the most vicious. They fight back the hardest and those "slippery little devils" can really run wild and get you in unexpected ways. Once they age a bit they tend to slow down and be less surprising. Sneaking up on them in the morning after a hard freeze is when I find them the most vulnerable. It's almost no longer sporting. But if you have a history of being bitten by those vicious newborns ---- shooting them later in life is still pretty satisfying !

I'm glad to hear yours is doing so well. There were lots of reports of light primer strikes when they first came out.
My wife grew up here in rural Missouri. Her grandparents had a small cattle farm, the cow patties got shot with lots of .22lr back then.
