Sig P226
I did some training recently and found a nice Sig P226, a 2018 model. It's the Select model with night sights, G10 grips, front serrations, smaller slide release, and the SRT, short reset trigger.
It seems like a pretty sweet version of this pistol, I'm not sure how long they made it, it's not in their current catalog. In fact, I looked on Youtube, which normally has multiple videos of everything, and can't find a review of this one.
It fits my hand nicely, has all the quality you expect from Sig, and I like it.
With the buying frenzy going on now, I don't see too many Sigs. I found this at a store that hasn't been open too long. This is a pretty rough time to be opening a gun store, I hope he does well.
Sorry, that pic is right side up on my screen.

I fixed it for ya - very nice btw!
Not sure I’ve seen this version. But I absolutely love my recently purchased Legion. I have probably 1,000 + rounds thru it now and have a hard time putting it down. Enjoy yours!

Everyone should own a 226, an excellent firearm. As for your Select model, it could have been a limited production sometimes referred to as the gun of the month. Check out the Sigforum for information.

I'm not much of a 9mm fan, and my newest 9mm pistol is more than thirty years old. I bought a new P226 in the late '80s. If I've ever fired jacketed bullet handloads or any factory ammo through it, it's indeed been few rounds. However, this pistol shoots 150 grain round nose cast bullets with very good 25 yard accuracy and has always functioned flawlessly. Hard to imagine a better 9mm pistol.

I was issued and carried a P229 and P239. Recently the NC State Highway Patrol replaced their P226's in .357 Sig and I was able to obtain one of the surplus guns that the trooper who carried it did not buy. Its the E2 grip with the short reset trigger. Even though its bigger than my old 229, it feels better with the new features.

Outstanding Sig 226! You are really going to enjoy it! I speak from experience. I bought a 226 Legion in 2016. It has been superlative in every respect in over 3K rounds. Sincerely. bruce.

I was given my P226 when I retired from the PD. I also got 3 magazines with it, but we were only supposed to get one. I sweet talked, as in begged, the Officer in Services to give me two extra ones. I've replaced the night sights once already and it may be due to have them replaced again, as they only last 10 years or so.
Haven't shot it in years.

Very nice! Congrats on your new SIG. 226s do feel very nice in the hand - at least they do in my hand. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of enjoyment from that one.

I would rank the Sig P226 hand feel in the realm of 1911 or BHP...
They just fit the hand and point naturally... I had 2 West German P226 at one time.. down to 1 now... son got the other one along with the 22 conversion... enjoy your great pistol

Enjoy it,, congrats!
I've owned a total of 13 Sig P226s, and there will be more. I've had 4 West German examples, one of which was the infamous1986 mud rail version, two were consecutive serial numbered, 2 Legions, an SA/DA, and an SAO, 1 Equinox, 1 Full Stainless, 1 P226-22, and 4 standard P226/P226Rs made in the US of varying ages. In all honesty, the absolute best of the bunch were the West German ones. The consecutively serial numbered pair were the best, in their original configuration from 1987 with the original style grips.
In my opinion, the P226 may be the very best pistol ever made.

I’ve tried every autoloader I could get my mitts around, and the P226 is the only one to have stuck around.
Nice gun !

I own far too many P226 and P22X generally. First rate. All can be upgraded to SRT, G10 grips and Gray Gun SAIT trigger. Only truly glass rod triggers I know in a non target gun.

I got a Scorpion in FDE last year. Had a German 226 since mid 90's. The German model is still my heart throb. Same with my German 220

I was in the first FBI new agent class after the 1076 was recalled. We were issued 226s off of DEA’s contract.
We shot for half the day, either morning or afternoon, every other day for 17 weeks, for a total of about 10,000 rounds each. I think there were 30 in my class - so about 300,000 rounds. I never saw one of the 226 choke, even in the hands of some pretty inexperienced (at first) shooters.
Later I became a firearms instructor as an additional duty. We soon transitioned to Glocks, but the Sigs were around for years and I never saw one jam.
These closest I came was a failure to fire a first round when we were shooting up our issued duty ammo to replace it with fresh. The shooter was an older female agent with a 228. She did a tap, rack, bang bang bang and made the time. I found the round and saw the primer was deeply dented. In talking to her later I found out she would clean and reload her gun, then give it a good spray with WD-40, which had killed the primer.
I gave my issued 226 to a guy on the bank fraud squad who still had a revolver and carried a personally owned 220 until I retired in 2016.
Great guns.

I like the 226. Bought my first one last March, a 9mm that was a range rental gun at my local gun store/range. It wasnt cool anymore, everyone was renting striker fired guns so they put it in the used gun section. As much as i loved the feel of the s&w 5906 with a curved grip, the 226 with the E2 grip fits my hand perfectly. With the ammo situation now its not getting any use but thats ok.

Enjoy that new SIG panther. A good choice IMHO. I was never issued a 226, but carried one from about '87 to '93, became a SIG armorer, etc. Wish I'd kept some of those earlier W. German guns. I did see one or two newly purchased WG 226s break horizontally in the frame rails. This, after a few hundred rounds of standard pressure ammo in our semi-auto transition classes. SIG replaced those guns, and I heard of no further trouble with 226s in the years that followed. Even after the issues with those early guns, I still considered SIGs to be the Mercedes Benz of semi-auto pistols.
FWIW, I wasn't initially the biggest fan of the American manufactured SIGs. But now have a couple, and can't really gripe about them. To this point, the American made SIGs I've owned have been very good pistols too.

Most of my 15 years at my PD was with revolvers. Everyone had to buy their own. After the administration changed, we were allowed autos. I was the head firearms instructor and had already been through the state semi auto firearm instructor class. I strapped on my personal P226. A couple of years later we were going through the CALEA accreditation process. The department was considering buying pistols for all officers. The department purchased three P228's in nickel for the Chief, Captain and myself. This is the only gun I was ever issued. We loved them. Unfortunately I left the department a few months later. In negotiations with the Patrolman's union the trustees decided to buy Glocks.

My brand new P226 “derailed” after about 200 rds. They did replace the gun but I swore off Sigs for many years as a result.
That is until about 3 years ago when I bought the ultimate 9 carry, for me, a P365.
Now I have those and two NCHP guns, a NIB 239 and a real clean 226, both in 357 Sig. Now I just need some ammo.

I have had a West German P226 since I bought it new in the late 80s. Never a single malfunction in all of these years.
I also have a West German made P220 that had the "W" removed at the factory before finishing, so this must have been made shortly after re-unification, using slides from stock made before 1990 or so.

P 226 Fan
Normally carry Les Baer 1911 SRP but used P 226 when assoc with SealTeams in 90s. Bought Mk 25 after retiring from Navy. Bought a German P226 last year. Sons used them at Gun fighting school last year. They shot 350 rounds each in 24 hours and never had a problem. I am looking to buy 3rd P226.

I picked up a barely used P226/MK-25 last week. I've already replaced the grips with black Hogue G-10s and put a Streamlight TLR3 on the rail. With a 20 round magazine, this is a perfect bedside gun.

Sweet. I have 15 rnd grandfathered 226 mags and got a few more plus several 20 rnd mags during our brief CA freedom week last year. Still being haggled in the courts, but we can legally keep the standard, or as we say in CA "high capacity", as of now.

Now get a P227. Cheaper ammo than a 226 these days.
