Default Blades Exposed! Turn you head if you are offended!

I apologize for poor photos, it has been storming and the light is really bad. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

What is the vintage of your large stockman pattern pictured here? I had a Buck large stockman when I was in high school (mid 70s), I think at the time Buck called it the "Wrangler" maybe? Lost it somewhere along the way many years ago. Fast-forward, I bought a new Buck large stockman pattern folder last year, but it's not the same as the one I had years ago. It actually seems slightly smaller, and blades, while the same basic design, are not quite the same - especially the large clip blade.

I bought a 301 in the 60s and about 10 yrs. later I broke the pin in a blade. I sent it back for repair and they sent me a new knife at no charge. I'm still carrying it. Larry

IIRC, most of the original 300 series were made by Camillus and some by Schrade. Once Buck took production in house, they started grinding the blades their way, which is (was) different from everyone else.

I carried a 70s vintage 307 Wrangler for over a decade before losing it to a hole in my pocket. My dad gave me his Stockman to replace it, but it’s now retired.

I fell victim to the ease of assisted opening and started carrying a Kershaw Onion, even though I have to retighten the frame every two weeks.

My son folded up the tent prematurely on our last outing a few weeks ago, so I’m now packing a Buck 055 until the tent comes out again so I can retrieve the Kershaw.

I have better knives to carry but I may have to go shopping for a vintage 307.

Sorry, but don't you know that nowadays the trendy way to react to something that offends you is to complain about it as loudly/obnoxiously as possible, attempt to shame the person who offended you, and get a bunch of other people with nothing better to do to join in until it results in you getting completely shut down by the nearest authority?!

No, then I shall demonstrate for you...

WAHHHH!!! This offends me! How dare you post pictures of exposed blades here?! You pervert, you sicko, you fiend! You're objectifying those blades! They don't exist just for you to oogle at, you know?! Those blades set unrealistic standards of beauty which hurt the self-esteem of rusty, well-used blades! You think REAL blades look like that?! Also, there could be children here who might see those exposed blades and be scarred for life by their gleaming beauty! Shame on you! Mods, ban this man immediately! Then we can all pretend like we're heroes who've actually contributed something to society rather than set it back hundreds of years with our over-the-top prudishness, intolerance, and blatant ignorance!

Those are very nice. I MUCH prefer the older flat grind to the new / current hollow grid of sorts.

I was thinking the same thing. May get on All About Pocketknives and see what I can find. I like the Case large stockman pattern #6375 but I can't carry carbon steel pocketknives; they will oxidize badly on me in short order, especially in the summer in Alabama.

I bought an old Case 6292 back in 1981 IIRC, still carry it, blade getting rather thin at this point! I've bought several others to replace it when it "wears out"...at 65 not sure but the kids might inherit several new pocket knives!

The larger one is a 307 Wrangler, next in size is the 301 Stockman, and last and least is the 303 Cadet. I bought the Stockman new sometime in the early to mid 1970's and carried it for years. The paperwork in the box is dated April 4, 1972. The Wrangler looks like it has never been sharpened and the Cadet has seen better days. It (Cadet) was really dirty when I got it and I have only sharpened the larger blade. I cleaned it up and have carried it some, but my MBH (much better half) bought it for me and I don't want to loose it. I think it is worth much more than $8.00 that she gave for it. It is the best size, in my opinion, of the three for carrying.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I love the excuse for the poor photos! That's kinda my excuse for not being able to even post a darn picture on this new computer. I blame it on the electric lines are too cold!
Those are nice knives BTW!

I could tell that your 307 looked more like the one I had in the 70s than the one I bought last year. I remember now when I got it - I traded for it when I was in the 8th grade, so 1972. I used it daily working my after-school job on a small farm.

The reason I said that, I have been shooting photos in front of a window on the West side of the house in the mornings, to cut down on shadows and such. Since I am learning to use the Canon 40D in Aperture mode and not using the flash, I and still getting shadows as you can see. I need more indirect light, but it is what it is.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Buck's naked, eh?

That's fine, but just don't get on my Case.

I have a beautiful Winterbottom Sunset Large Trapper my son got me for Christmas years ago.

It’s too precious to carry (a bit big for my pocket, too.)
