Default Elk antler stock

I have posted before about being a "grip" maker rather than making "stocks" for Smith & Wessons. Being a "stock" maker brings to mind what I DON'T make. I came across an actual elk antler stock and snagged the pics. That is some serious UGLY into which someone put a lot of effort. I recall seeing a Winchester 1894 at a gunshow in Denver that was highly engraved, gold plated, and had an elephant ivory butt stock and forend. That would be at the other end of the scale.

I actually think it's quite unique, and a nice show piece, as well as a good daily use weapon. No need to worry about scratches.

Last time I worked on a piece of antler the smell reminded me so bad of the dentist that I had to quit. Maybe it is just me but PU that stuff stunk.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
