Considering a couple more of the new Taurus revolvers, the 3" 692 and the 3" 942. Recently found one of their 905 snubbies someone must have traded in and it's a great little 9mm snub nose. Does anyone out there have any experience with the 692 or the 22LR 942?

I'm hearing a whole lotta crickets but no feedback on Taurus's new guns.

Let me rephrase this. It seems like since opening that new plant in Georgia, Taurus is making some really fine revolvers. Does anyone out there have experience they can share regarding the new Taurus lineup?

I have one of their 5-shot 44 mags and one of their 7-shot 357s. Pleased with both.

I haven't seen any of the guns from their new factory, but I'd like to.

IMO the future of the revolver lies with Ruger and Taurus.

Another up and comer in the US market is the Alpha Proj stuff coming out of the Czech Republic. Rock Island is the importer but don't confuse the Czech revolvers with the junk Armscor is building in the Philippines. The Alpha Proj guns are listed on their website under RIA Imports. I have the AL9.0 and it's probably my favorite shooter. I want their 3" AL22 in black but haven't seen one yet. Really fine guns.

The last Taurus I have any experience with was manufactured in 2018, prior to the grand opening of the Georgia plant, but it has been 100% reliable from what I've heard. It was a Model 605 that I purchased as a birthday gift for my Mother, who has been carrying it ever since. I shot it once at the range and it functioned with total reliability.

I myself own a Taurus Judge Magnum circa 2017 which has also been totally reliable which serves as my nightstand gun.



My brother also owns a Judge and the only trouble he had with it was ammo related. (Primers backing out under recoil locking up the cylinder with Winchester Super X .410 Bore 2.5" Shells.)

My dad owns a Heritage Arms Rough Rider, (Heritage Arms is a subsidiary of Taurus International Manufacturing) which has also been perfectly reliable.

I have a fairly recent model 85.
Its not quite as smooth as a j-frame, but its fine.

my LGS owner, a noted gunsmith with several safes full of older Smith revolvers, is a supporter of both Taurus revolvers and semi's, says he has less warranty returns with Taurus than with other brands he carries. He toured the new plant after it was in full production and came away impressed with what he saw coming off the line, and considers the Taurus G2C/G3C, essentially Glock clones, the best value compact semi's on the market. He talked me into a couple, and they have now replaced my Glocks as I have moved to MS on all my semi's.
Have a 1978 stainless 3" Taurus .38 which has been in my wife's nightstand for the past couple decades, and has gone bang every time through a thousand or so rounds.

I had the 992 with 6 inch barrel. Super heavy so I sold it and looking now for a 4 inch barrel. Shot really nicely and I liked having 2 cylinders

I have been interested in the 942 22LR with a 3" barrel in stainless steel for quite a while but I'll be darned if I can find one. The 2" barrel is more common and have seen them on gunbroker but no luck with the 3". I wouldn't mind having a Smith 617 of course, But I will have to wait for the next stimulus check....LOL

I hear ya man. There's a 2" 942 on GB as we speak but I'm also waiting to find a 3 incher. Maybe you and I'll be bidding against each other when one becomes available!
