Let's see your Hi-Power...I know your out there
Picked this one up new very shortly before Browning
announced they were dropping production.
After some lengthy waits on spring and trigger gunsmithing
it is close to perfection.
Decided it needs a cosmetic upgrade, and asked the "forum"
for grip suggestions.
A lot of great suggestions from great people.
Overwhelmingly it was Spegel...Spegel...Spegel.
I'm now on his waiting list. It's going to be a long wait.
But, member Bro.Dave steered me to BH Spring Solutions...Nice.
So interum while I wait for Spegel, it wears a beautiful set of
"in stock" grips from BH Spring Solutions.
Many thanks to Bro.Dave.

Would love to show you my 69 C series Hi Power, but it is in prison with the FBI. You see, it was stolen last May and recovered in December just before Christmas on a reservation here in Montana.
They have to send it to Quantico for ballistics testing, because it is a Federal case I don't expect to see it back for 25-30 years if ever.

I have a cousin to one of Lonestar57's BHPs.
They were, as I recall, originally referred to as a "Combat HP," came from the factory with "pachyderm" grips and a satin nickel finish.

jdlii - I have one of those, as well, and was told they were hard chrome rather than nickel (at least from the factory).
The two tone with hard chrome frame/black slide version was called the Practical.

Just drooling. I have mostly Smiths, but I have wanted one of these for a while. Now is not the time. I tried to trade some ammo for one, but dealer kept his new price= -high even by current standards - and had me at the old ammo price, but not me. I cannot blame him as someone may well give him his price these days. I have Stephan Camp's excellent Hi-Power book, does that count? Asking price for a Belgian made 9mm is $2,000 and up here now.

A couple of Canadian Inglis HP's, a Practical, a MkII and and FN MkIII. They're a bit addictive.

I purchased this one for my high school graduation in 1972 for $114.00 New in soft case. I changed the small sights to adjustable. Still sleeps in the soft case.....All I shot then were handloads and Lee's GREAT SUPER_VEL ammo.

I’ve liked them forever but never owned that many. This being the only current one I have but is configured to my liking and seems to shoot as well as any HP I recall having. For $200, I couldn’t say no.

Don't give up hope. Back in 1991 when I was in San Diego, my coworker Jack was the victim of a home invasion and they got almost all his collection including all his Colt SAA's.
Two of the idiots in the robbery got into an argument later that evening and they shot each other. The guy with Jack's S&W 422 .22 killed the guy with Jack's WWII Ithaca 1911. Shot placement matters...
The Ithaca was recovered later in the year with the serial # partially ground down, but still mostly legible. It was identified and the ATF issued a new serial # which was done by a local gun shop. The gun was returned in less than 2 years. A couple of guns popped up over time including his 2" Model 19 that was recovered all the way across the country in NY and returned with a nasty NYPD evidence # engraved into the frame. None of the really good stuff ever came back.

The finish on those are actually called Silver Chrome although it is in reality Hard Chrome as are with the Practical's frames.
Also, if you look at the second one on my post those are noted as Nickel by the Browning Company but it's really Electroless Nickel. Note the goldish tint as compared to the first one in the pic which is an after market Nickel plated finished FN.
Browning did offer a Hi Power in Nickel called the Centennial 1878 - 1978 Commemorative.

I have three.
A Mk II that has been my daily carry gun for a few years now. I got this gun for a song literally a few days before production was stopped and the prices skyrocketed. The trigger was tuned by a previous owner and it had a lot of miles on it when I got it, though I have put many more miles on it since I got it. It wears Altamont stocks, which are the slimmest I have found. I shoot it better than any other gun I own and simply love it.
I have a Mk III that I had to mess with a bit to get the trigger dialed in. My last range trip it ran like a top and the trigger is much better than when I got it. It had a good bit of damage when I got it, which dropped the price quite a bit. These are Navidrex grips, which are pretty good and the guy who makes them seems very cool.
I don't have any pics of my third, but it's one of the aluminum frame versions. It has some issues and needs some love from a HP smith.

Standard late model BHP Belgium/Portugal - with custom stocks:
BHP replica/Kareen - from Israel
The BHP with the new grips and the Kareen with the BHP's original grips because I didn't like the Pachmayrs:
I make no bones about not liking 1911-style guns, they do nothing for me, but BHPs, I like'em, can't explain it.
I won't carry one but that's a different story. For starters, they're too big for my style of concealed carry.

The Israeli FN also wears an SFS these days as well. I am also a fan, and would install one in the FEG, but I wasn't able to make it work due to dimensional differences.

I've been trying to locate some Browning HP 10 round magazines with the ejector springs attached or sold separately.

Soon to be gone
Belgium made Portugal assembled. Such elegant weapons, but I don't want to be a collector anymore.
Something happened to me in Afghanistan and I'm only keeping Glocks from now on.

Hi-Power Uber Alles!
The perfect Hi-Power package.....
.40 S&W perfection with 9mm Compactness. The spare FM Detective slide really makes it that much more better. The combo is great.... all the fun of a 9mm with the serious power of the .40 S&W. Removed the mag safety of course.

BHP- a great gun! S&W 39-2 also a great gun!
Like the title says...both are great guns. The BHP was my favorite 9mm for years, beating out even my 41 byf "Black Widow" Luger for fun at the range..and couldn't beat those double stack high cap mags even though I felt the gun to be a tad "fat" in my hands.
Then....a couple years ago I stumbled onto a Model 39-2 and I was hooked! Even though single stack...the gun was just as accurate as my trusty BHP and now it seems to be a family favorite, but the BHP doesn't get left to mumble to itself in the safe...if son, daughter, in-laws want to take the 39-2..then I'm the first to claim the BHP and off we go...with the same ammo, same range and conditions.....sheesh!....these guns perform!
Nuff said and thanks for asking for pics...man-o-man there are some sweet BHP's posted here. Super nice thread.

Mine shoots very well. But still cannot beat any of my Lugers.
My Byf 41 competition target at 25 meters(27 yards).

great shooting Kurusu
Don't want to hijack OP's BHP thread...but your shooting your 41 byf Luger in competition is way beyond my talents. I always was very careful with my Luger as everything on it was original so if we wanted to take it to the range I would swap and use Mecgar magazines, change the black bakelite, Type 6 grips to some Triple K cheapos, hardly let anyone else handle the gun...even watched no. 1 son very close.
As said....it was fun, and a super great conversation starter every time out at the range, but just got too valuable as a collector item so finally sold it many years ago.
Sorry for another thread drift........keep those BHP's coming.

Here are a few.. L-R W. German Police, Austrian Police, Argentine Police, and a 7.65mm Luger model from the 80's and lastly an Inglis Chinese contract w/stock. The Argentine model has incorrect grips but I have since remedied that.

Although I've owned several BHPs over many years, I've retained this one for its historical value. It's an Inglis adjustable sight variation, made in August of 1945, complete with matching shoulder stock-holster.

Short answer is yes. The first thing that can be done is removing the magazine safety.
Mine has already a trigger pull of around 4 to 5 lbs. even with the magazine safety on so I never removed it.

Get in touch with Cylinder and Slide - They did an excellent job on the trigger of my FEG (Hungarian) clone. Call or e-mail them first to get on their waiting list - it may take some time before they have an opening and you can get the gun to them.
