Yep. I believe it was. I can see the second hole on the slide for the pin of the new and more balanced sear lever. I can also see the magazine safety is gone.

Long time Hi Power fan here. Since my first, a new T-series along about '66 or '67, I've had several. Carried a Hi Power quite a bit back in the day. Still have a Hi Power plinker or two, just used recreationally. One is a GP Comp model.

I've had a few over the years, all gone now. The last one, and the only one recent enough that I still have some electronic pictures handy to post, was this 1944 occupation "Pistole 640(b)".

There is something immensely sad in this post. Not the "keeping Glocks" part, since I would probably grab my G19 if things went south, but the "something happened to me in Afghanistan" part. I can only imagine the angst behind those words.

Here's mine from '72 with Millet sights rather than the stock issue. Grips from Hogue.

Recently I’ve been thinking that I should get a Hi Power, this thread has certainly encouraged that idea. I should never have sold my FEG, but at least I kept all the spare mags.

I only have one but it’s a good one. A 1969 “T” originally bought in 1970.

Most here that follow have seen it before but here it is again. It was bought new, never shot and put away. The original price was under $100.00 and to get it I had to pay under $600.00 more not all that long ago.

I actually found/bought it on my birthday so that was way cool. It was a milestone age that I thought I’d be too old to be. (55.)

What is an SFS? You mention dimensional differences in the FEG. I have a FEG myself, and was wondering if it would be possible to install the FN style slide stop with the forward extension and "tab" that covers the notch in the slide.

Im a big Browning Hi Power fan and had one of the new ones before they stopped production. Its was a Royal blued one with wood grips. I rather slim production run gun because most of them I saw at the time were the dull cerakoted looking ones which are pretty nice too. I sold it and I shouldnt have because that gun is worth twice what I paid for it now. However I dont miss the gun at all. It had one of the most atrocious hammers I have ever felt on a gun ever! The spring most have been a freeken 1000 pounds! Had to use 2 thumbs to pull the thing back! It also had the most sloppy slide to frame fit I ever had EVER on a semi auto pistol WORSE than the most worn out GI 1911 I ever seen in my life! The thing rattled more than a mexican maraca on cinco da maya.
I wish Tisas would import more of there Hi Power clones because those were nice! Also the FEG made Hi Powers are nice and I prefer the round "commander" style hammers on those pistols more than the hammer hand bitter 9000 Browning model.

For those carrying concealed in an IWB manner, an advantage of the High Power is that the slide is ridiculously slim. And, even the stock grips don't show that much under a shirt.

Dr. Mordo covered "what is an SFS". The problem with the FEG was the fact that it didn't quite line up with what the SFS wanted for sear engagement. As to the slide stop, it should be a drop in, BUT I am assuming that this is the BHP clone FEG, and not the look alike with guts more similar to a S&W. My FEG is a true clone of the BHP, and I have not had difficulty using FN parts with the exception of the 3rd party SFS.

Look at the circled in red area of the photo of an FEG below. You can see the "oval" that shows that this is a true BHP clone (you may need to blow it up to see it properly).

These lightweight Euro-Copper trade-ins were on BrokeGunner several months back. Just a recoil buffer, and SFS kit from BHPSS, and the addition of dovetailed MkIII standard bar sights.

Oh yeah, my FEG is a true BHP clone - not the M59 derivative.
Interesting that other FN parts fit but the SFS doesn't.

I'm looking for a replacement slide stop for mine. Nothing wrong with the fit or function of the original, it just doesn't have the forward extension and tab to cover the frame notch - which makes it look less like a BHP, since that is one of their other distinctive physical features.

Here is a picture of my Browning Swenson HP.
When I was a young man of 19 or 20, a friend of my fathers took me out shooting. He told me to try my hand with some 9mm pistols he had. He opened a gun case with a S&W 39, S&W 59, Beretta 92, Walther P38, Colt 1911a1 and a Browning High Power. I kept going back to the HP, loved the grip and the way it fit my hand. This was all one handed bullseye shooting. Anyway, long story short, I've been in love with the Browning ever since.

I have one, a T Series. And a clone to keep it from getting lonely. I play Barry White music in the safe, hoping for an interesting offspring.

Lot’s of beautiful HPs here. I’ve had my share and currently have a pair of FNs from Israel that show practical use, but function well and are accurate.

My favorite automatic by far. I shoot the hell out of both of mine when times are normal.

Planning on picking up and extra slide in the near future for an RMR project.

Just a plain Jane 1970s Belgian with smooth stocks, but the holster makes it fancy.

Over the years I've probably had a couple of dozen Brownings. Great pistol. Here's a few favorites.

I thought I would do a family portrait of my Browning High Power, its little brother and the Baby. They came as a set in the box, and have their own manuals and Browning pouches. The .380 was made and imported before the GCA of 1968. The Baby Browning was probably fired, but that doesn't matter much to me. I got the set at Mayfield Guns outside of Cleveland. The owner is of a similar vintage to me, and he knows that I like the nice things he has put away back in the past.

I have 3 other High Powers to use as shooters.

Only have one,
FN Herstal marked bright blue cased gun with wood stocks in .40 SW with factory installed SFS.
Not a huge fan of the BHP but that SFS is an extremely cool design.

I keep reading this thread with every new post and am really enjoying it. However, it also keeps reminding me of one little issue with one of mine.
My FM Detective is probably my favorite Hi-Power and the one I'm most likely to carry. However, there is one small problem with it, the grips. It came from the factory with rubber wrap around grips. I hated them! This is pretty much just a plain Jane pistol with a flat black finish and doesn't need anything fancy or expensive. In fact something like that would look plumb out of place on this gun.
I did find some factory like aftermarket grips on E-bay a couple of years ago and bought those. But they never have fit quite right and often shift a bit when shooting.
Anyway, this thread has prompted me to place an ad in the WTB section. If you think you can help me out, please take a look.
Thanks.

One of my greatest regrets is letting my Hi Power go. As young men, we often must let something go to finance our newest urge. I hope to think we learn as we get older. But there is reality too. At the time, I simply was not in the financial position I am in now.

You guys will probably scalp me, but I traded in the Hi Power AND the 28-2 to pay for the shotgun I would have just died without.

Yeah, I know.

I currently have 2 HP's. I have a 1943 made during German occupation which was in very bad shape when I got it and I did my best to save it. The other is a Tisas BR9 clone which I have customized to be my EDC.

My High Power is my “troubled waters” gun. On the rare times when circumstances dictate something more than my Colt Cobra .38 may be a good idea, this one gets the nod.

Its got a Cylinder & Slide hammer and safety, and no mag disconnect. It has the only worthwhile product to come out of the Uncle Mike’s factory - their Spegel-ish slim grips. With a flush-fit Mec Gar 15 rounder full of +P+ BPLE it should get me out any trouble this old feller can find himself in.

It has never jammed. Not even once. It did rip off four rounds full auto once but I consider that just trying harder. I love it.

I bought three from Cole Distributing a while back when he had oodles of them. Sold one, kept my Browning badged in good condition and a late '40s version that is finish challenged and has some issues. Still trying to get that one running good.

Mine's a MkIII in 40 S&W I carried from '94 to retirement. They are fine weapons; removing the magazine disconnecteor immediately improves the trigger, IME.

I always think of Serpico when I see the adjustable sighted HPs. Very cool.
