I went back and looked at all the classic JMB photos and he has his finger on the trigger in almost every one, including several machine guns—indoors too!

He (SM) could sing, too! But I think "Baby, The Rain Must Fall" was the only song he knew!

Whenever our Crossman airguns would run out my brother would laugh and yell “CO2 Dave.” He was easy to amuse.

I haven't seen that in a long time and don't remember much about it other than it was a terrible film, about like another Steve McQueen dud of the same time, "Soldier In The Rain".
Did he actually sing "Baby The Rain Must Fall"? I can't remember, but if he did, it couldn't have been good.
I've always been a Steve McQueen fan; his good movies were certainly among the best ever.

Back in JMB's day shooters didn't wear safety glasses or use hearing protection, hunters didn't wear blaze orange. And how many firearms inventors and designers were known as crack shots, active competitors, etc?
Buddy Hackett was quite the collector but didn't have an image as a macho man.
Let's see, in the two pictures McQueen is aiming away from the camera, that is safe practice, no?

Just stop, already. You're embarrassing yourself. You are making conclusions from a simple picture.

I just saw the end of Mecum Auction Top 10 Porche sales.
Top seller? Steve McQueen's 930 Turbo.
1.95 million
This was circa 2015. No idea what it would go for now.

Yeah, I still play the real (Glen's) version once in a while on YouTube. I'm not sure, but I think we lost Glen in '19 or '20. I was pretty young when that movie (and song) came out. I suppose Steve may have sung it, but I don't think his voice made him much cash!

"That's Paul Newman, not Steve McQueen."
Boy....did I ever space out...!! Ha!!
They are oh so similar in my mind...which lately is spinning..!
First time I saw Steve McQueen was in the movie "On any Sunday" ..Had Malcolm Smith it it too.
Didn't know who Steve was but MS was a hero to me. I was riding a Husqvarna 250WR about that time. Made a big impression on me...

Lol...I do the same thing! McQueen was a decent dirt bike rider as well. I'll bet most folks (at least those not into off-road/MX) have no idea who Malcom Smith is. The movie 'On Any Sunday' was a cool flick. Husky bikes were/are top shelf bikes. Bultaco, Maico, Hodaka, Penton, and a few other 'non' Japanese' built bikes were all main contenders back in the 70's.

Very popular tune around 1965. Glenn Yarbrough was pretty much a folk singer as I remember.

When I was a young teenager in the late 1960's I was really into dirt bike riding. Malcolm Smith & Steve McQueen used to ride in the same foothills where a group of my classmates and I did. We all knew who they were, some of my friends had purchased bikes from Malcolm Smith's shop in Riverside CA and I can remember going there with a friend to buy some parts.
On the occasion when Smith & McQueen were spotted, we would race after them wanting to claim that we "rode with" Smith & McQueen. Of course we never could catch up with them with our little 100cc and 125cc bikes ! And I think they were having good fun with us trying to keep up with them.

When I had my Harley some 25 years ago I rode a bit with his son Chad. He invited a bunch of us to his beach house in Malibu that he inherited from his dad. Lots of old bikes and some classic cars in the garage...but no Bullit Mustang sad to say.

I can tell you he was well known all over, My first name is Steve when I was working I travelled all over the world I can't tell you in how many places when I was introduced I'd get a big knowing grin and "Esteve! oh como Esteve MaQueen" or in French, or Portuguese. Not so in the Orient for some reason.

She's obviously new at shooting or just posing?
I'd rather have McQueens watch.
He loved the Duke.
